No. Blacks do carry recessive alelles too. The sycle cell anemia one is probably the most famous one but that's not a visible characteristic. The same for having a nonbifud spinous process in their cervical vertebrae, another recessive trait though again, not a visible characteristic. A visible recesive trait would be a lack of a philtrum (the grove between nose and upper lip) in some people of African descent. So it's not like "Blacks have dominant alleles almost all the time." It's that all genotypes carry a mixture of alleles some of which are expressed and some of which are not. Dark skin, dark hair and brown eyes happen to be just three alleles that are dominantly expressed but those are just three of a zillion kinds of alleles within a genotype. When it comes right down to it, we share the same 99.9 percent of our genetic material within the human genotype. It's that 0.1% combination that accounts for all the individual and racial differences that we observe.

Reminds me of a joke I just received


A pretty little girl named Suzy was standing on the sidewalk in front of her home. Next to her was a basket of furry animals; in her hand was a sign that read: FREE KITTENS.

Suddenly a line of big black cars pulled up beside her. Out of the lead car stepped a tall grinning man. “Hi there little girl, I’m Mitt Romney. What do you have in the basket?”

“Kittens”, little Suzy said.

“How old are they asked Romney?”

Suzy replied, “They’re so young, their eyes aren’t even open yet.”

“And what kind of kittens are they?”

“Republicans,” answered Suzy with a smile.

Romney was delighted. As soon as he returned to his car, he called his PR chief and told him about the little girl and the kittens. Recognizing the perfect photo op, the two men agreed that the candidate should return the next day; and in front of the assembled media, have the girl talk about her discerning kittens.

So the next day, Suzy was again standing on the sidewalk with her basket of “Free Kittens,” when another motorcade pulled up, this time followed by vans from all the major networks. Camera and audio equipment were quickly set up, then Romney got out of his limo and walked over to little Suzy.

“Hello, again”, he said. “I’d love it if you would tell all my friends out there what kind of kittens you’re giving away.”

“Yes sir”, Suzy said. “They’re Democrats.”

Taken by surprised, the candidate stammered. “But…but…yesterday, you told me they were Republicans”.

Little Suzy smiled and said, “I know…but today they have their eyes open.”
