Hey Neanderthals! Guess Who's Got a New TV Show?

So is colorectal cancer! :)
Trust me, I know more about that than I care too. The facts are that eating LOTS of red meat over a long period of time can raise your risk of colon rectal cancer significantly but even that risk is far smaller than the risk of colon rectal cancer from obesity and lack of exercise (not to mention the risk to your over all health). Studies have also shown that vegans have higher rates of colon rectal cancer and death than the general population. The risk of colon rectal cancer from eating moderate amounts of red meat is very low. In fact studies have shown that eating grass fed beef in combination with dairy products are about the only known source of conjugated linoleic acids and conjugated linoleic acids are the only known fatty acids accepted by the National Acadamy of Science as exhibiting consistant anti-tumor properties at levels as low as 0.25 to 1% of total fats.

No they haven't. Show me that study.

No one has disputed that it's an 'effective way' of feeding people. You can list all the 'noble' reasons, as Winterborn has, for why hunting is good. However, people who don't enjoy killing animals will not hunt, regardless of those 'noble' reasons, and will find other ways to feed their families.

If someone has a dislike for killing animals, they will probably not hunt. However, when you say "Hunters hunt because hunters like killing animals. End of story." you are, in effect, saying that the enjoyment of killing is the only reason hunters hunt. That is completely inaccurate.

What is the relevance of your question?
that you apparently have no emotional attachment to parents or grandparents, since you showed zero empathy towards a kid and his grandfather preferring instead to hold a teenager accountable for the same moral actions you apply to grown adults. you must have had zero childhood. almost makes me feel bad for you.

Bijou, you are adamant about this being a black & white issue. Your comment of "Hunters hunt because hunters like killing animals. End of story." shows you see no other reasons for hunting.

Can you at least admit that hunting serves a purpose in the environment and society?

I'm a city boy so hunting's not my thing. I don't have any interest in it. I do have friends that hunt but that's neither here nor there. I'm going to assume hunting is a lot like any other activity where comraderie with the people you're with is a big part of the pleasure of it. One may go out for a shoot but not hitting anything doesn't necessarily make the trip a non-success or make it so it isn't fun. So I see it as more than hunting is strictly killing and that is all.

Save it, Oath-man. There are myriad other ways to bond with grandparents besides hunting.

Hunting serves human beings and the warped, biologically-unbalanced environment that resulted from their self-serving interference.

Is there an environment in the US that has not been left biologically unbalanced because of human interference?

Thank you for that, however begrudgingly posted.

There are, or were, far fewer ways to bond with grandfathers in the not so distant past.

As for my grandfather, I either fished, hunted, farmed or sang gospel music in order to bond with him. He loved me dearly. But he was raised in a very different time.

I hear ya. My paternal grandmother was an outspoken racist.

Really? The argument here is that man should not use the single largest advantage that we've evolved over millions of years? Man should use their bare hands and act stupid to make it even? That's witless nonsense.

It also ignores the very real reality that predation isn't enough without man to control the populations, starving animals dying and spreading diseases isn't conservation, wise, or even kind. Like it or not we're a part of nature and a huge portion of the food chain. Taking such a huge predator out of the picture because you don't like the "cruelty" will cause far more terrible death than understanding our place in nature and taking control and responsibility for our part...

Be sure to watch Ted's show, Damo. You're gonna love it, I'm sure. :)

My grandfather was born in rural Mississippi in 1897. Racism was simply the way things were.

I know, but it was still fucked up and wrong. My grandmother started a huge shit-storm in our house when I was a kid because she had a meltdown when she found me playing with my black Barbie doll. I was like 7 or 8.
