The mother of an American diplomat killed during a terrorist raid on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi has hit out at Barack Obama for describing the attack as 'not optimal', saying: 'My son is not very optimal — he is also very dead.'

During an interview shown on Comedy Central, Obama responded to a question about his administration's confused communication after the assault by saying:
"If four Americans get killed, it’s not optimal."

Speaking exclusively to MailOnline today, Pat Smith, whose son Sean died in the raid, said: "It was a disrespectful thing to say and I don't think it's right."

'I am still waiting for the truth to come out and I still want to know the truth. I'm finally starting to get some answers but I won't give up.
'There's a lot of stupid things that have been said about my son and what happened and this is another one of them.'

Obama was speaking to Jon Stewart of The Daily Show for a programme that was broadcast last night. Stewart, a liberal whose young audience is full of potential voters prized by the Obama campaign, asked the president about his handling of the aftermath of the Benghazi attack.
But Obama's response sparked outrage among Republican commentators including the website Breitbart and prompted a vicious backlash from the Twitter community.

Ambassador Chris Stevens, diplomat Sean Smith and security men and former U.S. Navy SEALs Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods were killed by terrorists on the 11th anniversary of 9/11 - an attack that the White House initially blamed on a spontaneous protest about an anti-Islam movie made in California.
Mrs Smith has previously attacked the Obama administration for keeping her in the dark over how her only child died.
She told Anderson Cooper last week that top officials had told her 'outright lies', adding: 'Everyone of them, all the big shots over there told me - they promised me, they promised me that they would tell me what happened.
'I told them, please don't give me any baloney that comes through with this political stuff.
'I don't want political stuff. You can keep your political, just tell me the truth - what happened. And I still don't know.'

This is a story from the UK's Daily Mail, picked up by the Washington Times, neither of which are rightwing blogs and propaganda sites. Furthermore, it is not just a story, but an actual INTERVIEW with the parent of the diplomat who died in Benghazi, not some "opinion" from a rightwing blogger.
 
I feel for this women. I hope the Democrats don't treat her like the Republicans treated Cindy Sheehan.

I think it's pretty disgusting too, that an administration played political football with this and tried to cover up the fact it was a terrorist attack. The woman deserved a straight answer as to what happened to her son, and she didn't get that. Instead, she got SPIN and OBFUSCATION... the same thing we're currently getting from Liberal Democrats on this issue. Yes, pretty disgusting indeed!

Hey Dixie. How many people died in your immoral war in Iraq? 100,000? 200,000? You're disgusted by a situation where you don't know what the hell happened but you helped enabled a man who lied us into an immoral war where over 100,000 people died including over 5,000 Americans and you didn't say JACK SHIT ABOUT THAT?

So this makes it okay in your mind, for the president to lie to a diplomat's family about his death? GREAT! Glad we have that sentiment on record here for the whole world to see. It's outstanding that we now have this fact recorded for posterity, that you think "tit for tat" when it comes to political leaders lying and fucking us over, and that's what you plan to continue doing as long as you are in power. I can think of nothing better to show the American people where you're coming from and what you really believe in your heart. WELL DONE!

Nobody covered anything up and the President referred to the attack as an "act of terror" the very next day.

But by all means go right on dragging that poor woman's son around and using it to score more political points.

And according to this woman (who I am standing up for, not dragging her son around) she STILL can't get a straight answer!

What's disgusting is folks like you trying to make political hay out of this tragedy instead of focusing on finding out what happened and bringing those pricks to justice. You don't give a rats ass about those 4 poor people just as you don't give a rats ass about the thousands of Iraqi's who died because of a lie! No one is trying to make "political hay" out of anything. Calling people's attention to Obama's failures in foreign policy, is not making political hay out of the situation, it's what happens when you fail in foreign policy. Grow the fuck up and get over yourself. He fucking LIED about this for two weeks... WHY? Because he didn't want to admit his counter-terrorist efforts were a disaster, because he had bragged on how they were a success. If anyone has exploited this for political gain, it is OBAMA!
 
It is unprecidented for a candidate to USE an ongoing international incident in this manner.


It is still being investigated and could very well lead to the interception of these nasty elements BEFORE they do something else to our country.

Dude asking the question used "optimal" in the question, using the same word back isn't something we should be attacking him about. Let's talk about security briefings and how he skipped so many, or why Ambassador Stevens only had a few bodyguards, or how there wasn't any protests there to "springboard" off of or "get out of hand"...

But getting on him for using the same word in his answer as in the question? Running on small things like Big Bird and Binders is for the guy ashamed of his record.
