But even as it trims deficits, the president's budget would add $7.2 trillion to the debt held by the public between 2012 and 2021.
Yes, he did. Because he knows it is foolish to raise taxes during a poor economy. He knows raising taxes is going to hurt the economy... especially with all his lavish spending habits. Which is why he wants to wait until after the election to raise them.
Why are Republicans out screaming about how President Obama raised there taxes and blaming him for how high there taxes are?
This is my point... while I appreciate you linking up to his proposal that you referred to, he is not doing anything meaningful to reduce his deficit spending.
When Bush was in office, fiscally responsible people screamed about the $480B deficit. Yet according to your link, his plan still adds an average of $720B per year over the next decade.
Saying 'I have been over spending by $1T per year and now will only overspend by $720B per year' is not helping matters.
No, that is not what I am saying, read what I wrote, then you will see what I am saying.
We have had the lowest income tax since the 1930's, and the worst economy.... What does that tell you? The taxes are way too low for a healthy economy, we need to go back to the rates when Bill Clinton was president.
You do understand that there are more forms of taxation than the income tax? He certainly lowered the tax brackets, but that doesn't mean he didn't raise taxes elsewhere.
Look at Reagan... he lowered and simplified the brackets, yet he raised cap gains taxes, raised the cigarette tax, increased payroll tax etc...
Not sure how it all washes out for Obama.
