Let's see...GOP majorities in both legislative chambers....GOP governor, GOP Senators...

Alabama has the worst economy in the Southeast.

Worse than Louisiana.

Worse than South Carolina. Heck, worse than, my goodness, ThankGodforMississippi.

There is a saving grace.

While Alabama's economy sucks more than any other in the Southeast, it's only the fourth worst economy in the United States.

What's the common denominator here?

Not a cop-out at all. What stereotypes do you know of that are actually accurate? If you want to buy into the bullshit, go ahead. I have argued against the stereotypes numerous times on this forum. I have posted facts and figures about the south. It changed nothing. So I am no longer wasting my time on it.

LOL

I didn't address the OP. I addressed your quote. The only way you can demean my refusal to argue against stereotypes is to accept stereotypes as accurate.

Who said I'm demeaning your "refusal"?

Simply addressing issues in logic relevant to the thread without ridiculing, aren't I?

Here's an interesting tidbit about the last democrat gov of Alabama:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/09/11/don-siegelman-prison_n_1875487.html

According to this article, Alabama(like most southern states) was a pure bastion of the democrats from 1819 until the 1980's. Now the balance of power has leveled a bit more.

Bottom line? These deep south states have never had much going for them economically, regardless who was in the state house or the legislature. They try to make the best of the resources at hand.

The South never recovered from the loss of slave labor, did they?
