Libertarians, let's talk SCOTUS noms!

Here's the bottom line Libertarians, you guys make sure Obama wins this election, and you can hang your Libertarian ideology up for good, you're done. For the next 50-70 years, this country will be a European-style Social Democracy, and we'll just have to live with that. So maybe, possibly, your great grandkids will have a shot at establishing a more libertarian society, but your days of glory will be finished. Don't believe me? Think I am trying to scare you? Look at how old the judges are, and think about the kind of judges Obama will replace them with. Will a court full of Kagen's and Sotomayor's be hospitable to individual libertarian freedoms and values? I'm guessing they won't, and the only place Libertarianism will be mentioned is in the history books.... IF the Liberals allow it.

Shut up. Romney does not care about the constitution. He is a right wing technocrat who would likely appoint justices that are pro life and against marriage equality. If we are to base it on judges then it looks like Obama is our best bet.

Well YOU can call it roses shooting out your ass if you want to, I suppose. It doesn't really matter what YOU call it.

If it's constitutional, it has to be a tax, that's what the SCOTUS ruling said.

You are just too stupid. The Roberts court views it as a tax. That is all. The ruling does not create any requirement nor is it an effective limit.

Well I don't know what kind of judges Romney would appoint, Jughead says he's a moderate and not a conservative, so he probably isn't going to appoint Pat Robertson to the courts. I think I can live with his selections over Obama's, we KNOW what kind of judges he plans to nominate, and it spells the END to Libertarianism for good. Go ahead and be bonehead stupid, and let the man win the election! I'm not a big fan of extreme Libertarianism myself, I share some libertarian philosophies, and would like to see us move toward a more libertarian government and society, but that's certainly NOT going to happen under Obama, and you know it.

It's the equivalent to putting the gun to your head and pulling the trigger... best case scenario, it's the waste of a perfectly good bullet.

Explain how Obama's justices are worse for libertarianism?

You don't share any libertarian views or values.

Well, historically, the ruling of the SCOTUS sets precedent, so yeah.. it kinda IS and effective limit.

Bull. They upheld the mandate. If they had struck it down it would have created a limit. All Roberts did was rule that he would view it as a tax. It does not require anything of anyone.

You think Kagen and Sotomayor endorse libertarian philosophy? They don't strike me as libertarians.

And sorry, I most certainly DO support some libertarian ideals. I am not a libertarian extremist like you, but I very much believe in personal freedom and liberty over statism and governmental control of our lives. I have repeatedly supported the notion that states should be allowed to individually decide issues like abortion, gay marriage, marijuana legalization, as opposed to having Big Brother determine this for us. But again... elect Obama and watch him stack the courts with liberal statists, and we'll have the federal government all up our ass on just about everything we do for the next 70 years. Telling us what kind of car we can drive, what kind of home we can have, what kind of light bulbs we can use, what foods we can eat, etc.

No, Roberts said the only way it could be constitutional was to be a tax. Political opportunists claimed what you are saying, to try and criticize Roberts decision, but his decision will establish precedent for future Congressional actions, as SCOTUS rulings almost always do, and if they don't, are often challenged and brought to the courts again for review.

Obamacare is going to be DOA come January 21, 2013. Any future attempts to implement anything like it, will be held to the standard of a tax and will have to be passed by 2/3 Congress as such. No way around that now, it's the SCOTUS ruling.

Nope. Roberts ruling does not create any limit on Congress. They don't even have to call their next mandate a tax.

guns and ammo. maybe you've forgotten just who it is that runs this country.

That's your unfounded and baseless opinion, and you're entitled.

No, that's not just opinion. They upheld the mandate. It does not limit Congress and it does not mean they have to call anything a tax. You are just a moron that does not really understand what the courts do.
