MEOW
We have a GOP house, 30 GOP governors, and the popular vote is going to go republican. Somehow, Obama has defied gravity and has gotten 2 terms in a republican country.
I am not trying to play the race card, but am calling it as I see it, Obama was voted for by overwhelming numbers if blacks, again who voted for race instead of on issues. Again, if Obamas black voters voted on issues, they would have voted against 14% unemployment and 50 million people on food stamps. Obama won the youth vote who voted for the hip " rock star". Most of these 18-24 year olds live with mommy & daddy still, and don't know what it means to pay bills, or feed your kids,etc...I personally would love to see minimum voting age be 22.
I just am a little confused about the state of things
Perhaps I can shed some light on your thinking. We'll start with your comment, "...Obama was voted for by overwhelming numbers if blacks, again who voted for race instead of on issues."
They did vote on issues. Issues like blacks make up the majority of prisoners. Issues like more blacks are unemployed. Issues like more blacks being unemployed and poor means more blacks don't have medical insurance and needlessly suffer.
Then we have the comment, "Most of these 18-24 year olds live with mommy & daddy still, and don't know what it means to pay bills, or feed your kids,etc..."
They do know companies are sitting on huge profits while telling them there isn't any trainee openings. They do know that if they left mommy & daddy they'd probably end up with a part time job with no benefits and the Republicans would like nothing better than to squash Obamacare thereby stripping them of their health coverage under their parent's plan.
Then there's the 18-24 year old females and one party wanting to make laws concerning their reproductive system and defining what is and isn't a "legitimate" rape.
Voting for Obama because he is a "rock star" or voting for Obama because of things so fundamental as health and sex? Rather than look after our youth the Repubs would prefer, on one hand, to dictate their reproductive choices and, one the other hand, not give a damn about their health and welfare.
The 18-24 year olds may be a lot of things but crazy isn't one of them. They may not sit down at the dinner table and have a conversation about world affairs but they know what's going on. They know they live in a country where one party actively supports taking advantage of them. Hell, one prominent member of said party actually advocated the school curriculum include Toilet Bowl Cleaning-101. Sort of a learn and earn program. Rather than have social programs to ensure poor families have the basic necessities their idea was the extra money from child labor could be used to support the family.
What confuses me is what kind of human being would vote for such a party? Do they really find such abhorrent ideas to be good or do they feel that's the way the world works and they have no choice? I'm hoping it's a case of them not believing change is possible. At least they can be shown. My worry is they find the present way quite acceptable. If that's the case I suppose that's what constitutes true conservatism.
