Dems win super majority in California

In California we used to need a 2/3rds vote to pass a budget and raise taxes. A couple of years ago the budget rules changed to only needing half. When the budget rules changed the Republicans in the state had no say over the budget but they had just enough that there was a Republican vote or two needed to raise taxes. Well that is gone. Dems got a super majority now and Prop 30 passed last night which raises taxes on all those making over $250k.

I guess anytime you have one party rule and total control there's a lot you can do with it but then there's no one else to blame if things don't go well.

So you are saying we should prepare in Colorado for yet another influx of CA companies and the jobs that come with them? AWESOME!!!

yeah baby

I came back to Cali at the right time.

They can leave if they wish they will just create an area of new opportunity for the rest of us

lmao... so if good jobs are leaving, the more affluent are leaving... exactly what opportunity is that creating for you? The CA government is broke, cities are going bankrupt. Who do you think is going to PAY for all of that Desh?

Good Cali is to expensive, a few bad economic years might bring housing down. Meanwhile evergreen co is calling me!

Lots of (overseas) investors puchasing in Cali right now. Home prices not dropping (at least where you would want to live)

1) The economic crisis in CA may bring everything down out there, with the exception of real estate. Like NYC, CA residents are determined to over pay for land.

2) Evergreen is a phenomenal town... plus CO just passed MJ legalization...

which is why I didnt sell my house when I mived to LV.

I will never be priced out of the market in Cali.

My vegas house rents well too.

I make a nice profit from renting it each month

Fuck, California was a couple of percentage points away from abolishing the death penalty. That's honestly a pretty amazing result in itself, you usually see measures like this defeated by supermajorities.

Anyone here think the Dems with their super majority are going to try and get a ballot measure to overturn Prop 13?
