Predictions for Tax/Spending Compromise

While I'm not particularly great at predictions as of late, I'd venture to guess they'll extend everything as-is for a short period of time - 1 year or possibly only 6 months - in order to buy enough time to reach a compromise and avoid the fiscal cliff. I would be utterly flabbergasted if either side budges much over the next couple months.

That would be the worst thing they could do. In NO way do we want this postponed again. The uncertainty is friggin killing our economy. They need to step the fuck up and get this shit resolved. The best play at this point is to let the tax cuts expire. Then in January when the new Congress is sworn in, cut the lower brackets back down.

all he now has is a threat of super pack targeting him in the next election.

the dems know that they have the power to change the country.

those voters are never going to go back to the back of the bus

If it's at all possible he'll be in big trouble regardless come 2014...he's a marked man.

Here site problem for all of them. The AMT kicks in and hits people making $75,000 a year.

I say bring it the fuck on. It is time for idiot voters to start feeling the pain of their idiotic votes. They think they can vote for Obama Claus and someone else is going to keep paying the bills.

Let it all crash.

repeteing those lies to yourself will make the next election outcome look evern worse for your party

I kinda want to go over the cliff, lets call the TEAParty bluff!

unless the republicans act like adults that is what will happen.

They will get the blame.

either way they will be targeted by super packs.

they are stuck

Obama should let the tax cuts expire in January and order the IRS not to change the withholding tables on income under $250,000.

Like the lower tax brackets, the AMT can be fixed retroactively. That is not a problem.

I don't konw. He can't unilaterally change the taxes people will owe at the end of the year, but I don't see why he can't unilaterally change the amount the IRS collects throughout the year.

I can. That would be an extreme abuse of power (if not unconstitutional) to cherry pick which parts of the tax code he is going to have the IRS follow.
