I've got a far more plausible explanation: Yurt got caught lying yet again and immediately trotted out a truly pitiful excuse to try and cover his ass.

Exit polls show two-thirds of the country is in favor of a tax increase on the 1% to pay down the deficit.

If you raise taxes on the consumer class, that means less consumer shopping and spending. That is not good for a consumer driven economy.
 
Yurt, the question is, will the Republicans have the balls to cut spending? Based on past history, they will simply bend over and take it up the ass.
