if there is racism in the private sector, you can sue for redress. not sure why you think there is 'nothing' anyone can do about private sector discrimination.
you're right about the unequal playing field, and as i explained above, i don't believe that field exists in a detrimental manner. sure, it exists in some small sectors, but if you want to count the public sector, i don't think it exists there in any measurable detriment that we need to give a class of people an advantage based solely on their skin color.
Recourse against provable cases. Not much anyone can do about applications with black or foreign sounding names getting tossed, or being refused at face value. Don't know how prevalent this is but I have seen people admit to doing it.
Regarding public sector I'd have to concur that at this point there is no measurable detriment. I would argue the concept of advantage, leveling the playing field isn't necessarily detrimental to the favored, they just no longer have the upper hand.
