Christmas or Christ's Mass is one of the most popular Christian celebrations as well as one of the most globally recognized mid-winter celebrations in the Northern Hemisphere. Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, called the "Son of God," the second person of the Holy Trinity, as well as "Savior of the World." The birth is observed on December 25, which was the Roman winter solstice upon establishment of the Julian Calendar.[SUP][11][/SUP] Activities include feasting, Midnight Masses and singing Christmas carols about the Nativity. Good deeds and gift giving in the tradition of St. Nicholas or Santa Claus is also observed. Many observe the holiday for twelve days leading up to Epiphany.

As a practicing Christian this information doesn't offend me. This is a happy time if year which is probably why libtards are so miserable. They just can't stand seeing others having a good time

I am not the one who uttered the words "I hate you" to someone on this board. You did that. Me thinks you project too much. Look, here is a tip sweetie. While you are sitting alone in your chair surrounded by your cats, look out your window and look at all of the wonders God has bestowed upon us. Then fall to bended knee and ask for forgiveness. Ours is a loving and forgiving God. I will pray for you tonight at Church.

History?

I am not sure if he had a point, but what he posted is factual.

Except he forgot to post that Christianity is Mithra.

He forgot to post that Christianity is an invented religion taken from many others.

He forgot that Jesus was not born on December 25th .. which was the pagan celebration of the solstice .. who also used evergreen trees.

There is a lot of shit about Christmas and Christianity that he left out.

Surprise, surprise

i simply posted an article from yahoo, not a college thesis or the numerous other theories out there. i never claimed once it was exhaustive. in fact, neither does the article, it simply says - five facts. don't like it, post more, by all means.

I never expected that you actually knew.

I did and I added the truth you left out.

You can believe whatever you choose to.

And what do you think associating 'pagans' or 'paganism' with Christians implies ?

pagan - a person who does not acknowledge god...its a slur against Christians....
gentile, heathen, infidel.........the same slurs Muslims use against nonbelievers of Islam

Yurt just wants to beat around the bush, mincing words.....practicing his trolling traits.....
Hes got something to say, hes just doesn't have the balls to say it .... or he doesn't know what hes implying...either/or

I'll say it. Christians are brainwashed victims of an elaborate hoax to turn them into Noahide KillBot Slaves (NKS).

nope. did you read the OP? you should study up on the history of christmas. it did not start out as a christian holiday and had nothing to do with the birth of jesus.
it is true the secular celebration that most Americans participate in has nothing to do with the Christian religion.......but then you AND the article made the mistake of thinking that is what Christians are celebrating on the 25th......that is why I was correcting you......

This thread is rather pointless. It is arguing/debating/discussing the beginnings of a 'belief'.
There was, as far as I can tell, no beginning. Man has always sought answers to the unanswerable and has always filled the gaps in his knowledge with tales of snakes and turtles and holy men and aliens and gods and goodness knows what else.
That is not bad nor is it good. It is recognising the ignorance of people. That's it.

There can be no cogent discussion about the non existent, that concept alone makes no sense. Now if man's situation is eased by such beliefs, who am I to chastise him. Some people hear voices, some see shadows and believe them to be spirits/ghosts/whatever. We cannot say these people are insane, but they most certainly are unfortunate for good fortune comes by way of knowledge and knowledge comes from education and some people do not have the opportunity for a good education.
BUT, taking all that into account, it is very, very wrong for the strong to persuade the weak and to encourage them to evangelise the nonsense of imaginary beings. It is wrong, very very wrong for parents to indoctrinate these silly stories into their children before those children have the experience to accept or reject anything.
In most non-Islam countries (and if not most then a substantial number) the idea of super human or super beings who affect the lives of people has gone the way of the steam engine, which could only continue while someone stoked its fire.
America, at least certain parts of America, is still in the age of steam.

for what it is worth, just because i know of certain theories, does not mean i agree with them. for example your claim about mithraism.

i post something about the pagen roots of christmas every year. it never ceases to amaze me how few christians actually know the origin of the holiday and how the origin had nothing to do with christ. i have no problem celebrating christmas and remembering his birth, then again, i remember his birth, death and resurrection as often as i can.

your post is rather pointless. many christians do not know the origin of christianity and believe it is has always been about christ and his birth.

additionally, to say that it is pointless to discuss the origins of beliefs is pure ignorance.
