government paid to protect us.....

That's a little too cutesy, and not very clever. No - we don't pay them to make mistakes.
yet you encourage them by punishing them with more training and no accountability, and when there is some accountability it generally takes the form of a check from the taxpayers, which then gives them some unexplained right to denigrate the victim as being in it only for the money.....what do you find cutesy about that??????

How many incidents should it take for what? For the population to characterize every sector of the government as gross and incompetent?
not the population, just you. how many incidents would it take for you to characterize every sector of the government as gross and incompetent?

Good question. Well, there are already various sectors I have misgivings about and, alternatively, various I hold faith in.

So I suppose it would have to be either various, or one single, major systemic failure for what you suggested to happen. Short answer: a lot.

how many incidents do you think it should take?

I thought you guys were all about LOCAL government and stategovernment having control because they are "better" than a fed government?

So now we see you hate all government.

tell me why you hate the founders so much?

I am glad Americans are getting to see who this far right cabal for who they really are.

Your for anarchy.

Heres the dealo.

Most Americans dont want constant chaos in their lives.

Most Americans love this country and the government the founders left us.

and most americans are stupid, like you

Nothing is more stupid than this thread, where we're apparently supposed to believe that because mistakes are made in once incidence, the whole system is bad.

And you haven't really done anything to convince anyone that mistakes were made here, either. Do you know why the procdures are as they were in this case? Any idea?

I'll ask you the same question.... is every incident i've posted about just isolated instances, and if so....how many isolated instances would it take for you to believe it would be more than just isolated instances?

I fully accept the belief that there are some people here that, despite their claim of intelligence, will absolve the government of any wrongdoing simply because they believe government is better than the people.

The government ARE the people - WE the people. And people make mistakes.

I think if you & I wanted to devote all of our time to posting stories about the police & firefighters - with you posting mistakes & corruption, and me posting incidents where they saved lives, properties and solved crimes - I'd blow you out of the water. It wouldn't even be close. So, to answer your 1st question, I do allot for a small % of error and corruption, as just part of human nature, and I believe that's all it is.

I don't absove the gov't of wrongdoing, but again, you haven't really proven it in this case. I don't think you know what the rescue procedures here should be, and why they are that way. As for gov't being better than the people - yeah, if my house is on fire, I'm glad we have a fire department. I wouldn't want to wait for my neighbors to gather buckets of water to try to put it out.

I answered the question! Where's my gold star?

No, we believe that governance is, and has proven to be, an effective tool of the people. I'll concede that government has it's downfalls, but when the chips are down, most Americans will still turn to the government to do it's job.

not according to the founders, so you are wrong.

frog in boiling water, still.

my car caught fire once. I called the fire dept like a good little lemming. the cop who pulled in behind me tried his fire extinguisher, it was empty. the fireman who got there first couldn't get his to work. the pumps on the truck failed. it took 15 minutes to shut em off and recycle them. my car burned to the shell. the house on the corner had a garden hose that i should have used and saved my car.

government is a necessary evil, it's only effectiveness is in the use of violence, especially since thats how it sustains itself.

For real?

It's the government that allowed cropland to be restored after the dust bowl.
It's the government that built roads, bridges, etc.
It's the government that enforces laws.
It's the government that provides you with cheap, public transportation.
It's the government that established housing for the poor.
It's the government that prevents the over-expenditure of natural resources.
It's the government that maintains the cleanliness of our air and water.
It's the government that helps prevent military action between feuding countries.
It's the government that provides free education.
It's the government that provides disaster relief.
It's the government that helped lift the country out of the depression.

So, tell me how "it's only effectiveness is in the use of violence".

is that really how you see the world today? because any of those things you posted could have been done by the private sector
