What a Stretch!

What is normal everyday PE!

In the context of excercise....

Stretching
swimming
aerobics
running
walking
jumping jacks
games like basketball, baseball, dodgeball, etc.
dancing

Didn't you have PE in school ?

it could take the form of just about any type of physical movement.

I suffered a back injury in October, I am working on my core right now! Learning just how important it is and that it is the one area that has no "muscle memory". Everybody, Kegel!
Try tai chi for core strength and muscle memory for self defense or other martial arts!
Unless tai chi is kind of, you know, promoting communism!

I used to think yoga was a bunch of tree hugging hippie garbage. I did it for the first time a couple of years ago when I started doing P90X and I definitely see the benefit of it now.

that is because it used to be so friggin corny. Watch an old yoga video and compare it to what you do today. Can't speak for all gyms, but a lot of gone away from the nonsense portion and focused on the strengthening of the core, the increase in flexibility etc...

Sorry to hear about your back, but the core work should really help. It is amazing how much a difference it makes to have the core strong.

I tend to agree with you cawac....the exercises could be done without ever even calling attention to yoga in the first place....

BUT....then you have rana's post.....and its implications.....maybe the parents have a point after all....LMAO

The exercises are what is commonly referred to as yoga. Yoga does not have to include any sort of religious element and usually do not.

Thanks, my recovery has been exceptionally speedy because I am still flexible! Now I plan to be even more so! I am a believer!

I wish we were more like the Chinese and had public morning work outs!

Many gyms do... they are called bootcamps or crossfit classes or yoga classes. ;)

That said, the majority of this country is severely lacking in this area, in all seriousness we should have a national initiative and sense of pride in taking care of ourselves.

My daughter is taking tai chi.

She loves it!

When learned from a young age the benefits are amazing, for health, strength and the muscle memory for self defense.
My daughter learned tai chi chuan from the age of 7, she now teaches an applied tai chi class in the UK.

I have seen a vast improvement with the exercises the PT gave me, and they are basically yoga positions, with slight movement. I am going to get back into Pilates as well! I hate getting creaks, I am more vain about it than my looks.

Yeah, I see groups of people out early in the morning around me doing those 'boot camp' classes.

Amen, it would be a very reasonable way to lower healthcare costs!

But burgers are so good!!
Nothing quenches a thirst like an IPA!!
You feel sick as fuck exercising after a couple of heady toppers!
