What it sounds like that need's to be done is a change in the health care system, Looking at world statistics the US apperantly has a lower cost base yet they spend more per a capita on health with lower results.

In many nations there are system's in place to ensure low income earner's are not charged an exorbitant fee. Perhap's the US need's to look at one of these other countries for some clues.

That's pretty much my point in a nutshell. If you're going to do something like this with high costs you need to be informed as to what those costs are so you can make the appropriate financial planning.

But he did pay a portion of the bill so he did have a right to know be it legal, moral or straight out common courtesy. Matter is they need to bring in legislation so that prices are put up front so that you can either shop around for a better deal (which would end up happening with them being forced to state there costs from the get go) or they should be required to offer lower cost to low income group.

and who's fault IS that......would we go to a mechanic and not refuse to let him start working without getting a quote?.......would we go to a grocery store that didn't label the cans or let us know how much they were charging for bread until after we ate it?.......we have gotten where we are because no one cared when we thought "someone else is paying for it"......the insurance company paid our bills, our employers paid for our insurance....we are merely reaping what we've sown.......the question has arisen because we need to decide if we will continue sowing it......if our "solution" is "the government and rich people's taxes will pay for it" the problem isn't going away......

You are being foolish. You act as if he had zero choices here. He could have walked out any time. But he didn't.

You don't know that what is charged is nothing but a big fucking game because of the distorted reimbursement schemer designed by the gobblement.

If it was a true free market and he was paying the entire thing out of pocket then I bet he would have pushed harder.

But despite Motts protestations post finding out his heart wasn't going to give out on him, deep down at the time he really didn't care how much it cost. Oh I am sure he asked, but I bet he never unstuck his fat ass from the white paper, put on his flannel shirt and attempted to walk out did he? Fuck no.

He heard "blip" and inside freaked out. "Oh no, am I going to have a heart attack?"

Last point I would make is that this all a moot point, because under Obamacare, Mott will be sent on his way home with a pat in the fanny with advanced directives and told to call if he feels "funny". Then he can come back here bitching about how the uncaring Dr. didnt care about his blip

The GP does a general physical, BP, blood, ekg and says there's a little blip on my ekg, he doesn't think it's serious but thinks maybe he should send me to the cardiologist. So every step along the way I'm asking "How much is this going to cost?". I'm told "Don't know for sure but since it's a physical with out a diagnosis it shouldn't cost you much, your insurance should pick up most of it. Never once to I get told "Total cost is going to be X dollars.".

So I go see the cardiologist. He does a BP and an EKG. Say's theirs a blip on it that he can't even point out to me on the cardiogram it's so small. He want's to do a stress test. Again "how much is this going to cost" I get the same BLAH, BLAH, BLAH and no straight answer to my question.

So this week I get the Bill and for going over to a cardiologist and for literally putting me on a treadmill for 10 minutes with a blood pressure cup and a heart rate monitor they charged my ass $2500!!

Some fucking stress test. I read the bill and my heart started beating faster than when I did the stress test. What a fucking racket. How do they get away with this shit? They're the only mother fuckers I know who can bill you for a service and not tell you what that service is going to cost you.

Odd, I have never had that experience. They tell you if you insist they do so prior to taking the tests. But from the looks of things, we have further evidence liberals just aren't bright enough for anything but being led around by others.
