Why did you choose BO over Hillary? And why wouldn't you guys choose someone else over her next time around? The point is that if conventional wisdom were correct, the 2008 nominees would have been Rudy Guiliani and Hillary Clinton and Clinton would be President Clinton.

The turning point was when Ted threw his support to Obama.
Think about it, either we would have our first black or our first female Pres., a huge win for progressives either way. Democrats hardly rejected her, there was simply a much more exiting (to many) choice.

The excitement far overwhelmed the more obvious choice of Clinton/Obama, which would have given Obama the experience he needed, among other benefits, such as another Clinton directed economy which is apparently needed after every Bush admin.

The silver lining is that other than the drone war, Obama has been a good ambassador to the world.
