A friend of a friend is in China on holiday. I dont know where. He whats apped it on Saturday while we were having lunch.
One problem is that many places in China have names that sound identical to the western ear and have completely diffent pronunciations in Cantonese. So it might have been Henan, Wuhan or several other 'hans'.
I remember going to Ximen and trying to tell someone. 'Zee-men', I said to 'huh?' 'She men' I tried. 'Huh?' the people who live their call it 'Zeem'n'. 'Zeem'n' I ventured. 'Huh?' So I pointed to it on a map. Ahhh. That is Hor-moon came the response. Right. Why didnt I think of that?
The capital of China might be Bei-jing or Pekin or Bak geng. Really its best not to ask!
