no more right to travel freely

seattle is a bunch of pussies when it comes to snow. When younger, we routinely would have school canceled out there even with the grass sticking up. All you would need is a dusting. They also don't salt the roads cause it harms the salmon. (salmon > people out in seattle)

Snow states like mass and I am sure the midwest have their shit together. We are on top of things. Seattle would just shut the fuck down over a light dusting. 7 inches in mass at 530 am? fuck you.. go to school.

That said, mass got a lot of snow yesterday... but not like... state of emergency level. I would have gladly spite driven but A) there would be other idiots out on the road driving 10 miles an hour which would suck, and B) my laziness overruled my wanting to give the middle finger to government.

(as usual)

Actually, they had to revert back to using salt, because the PC crap they were using was so useless several years ago during the ice storm, that everything did shut down, and everyone was fucking pissed. So we put the environmentalists in their place (I won't say how), and convenience prevailed, and we threw salt on the streets in glourious victory.

Yet, there is a woman in Ohio who had her electricity turned off because she refused a "smart meter". The Sheriffs Dept came to her house and said there were there to protect the rights of the power company. Now that is a clear abuse of power and crony capitalism. But, I guess it doesn't rise to the level of not being able to drive on the roads for less than 24 hours so cleanup crews can do their jobs and so other lives aren't put at risk.

One person. Victim of a PRIVATE utility company.
?
I wonder what fancy hotel The Blaze put her up in to record her carefully worded video diatribe?

Yes! Abused by the police to coerce action. That's some private company. You, sir, are a dumbass. no wonder you support gun control. You have no idea about the type of people you support and the things they do in the name of society. You would have made an awesome brownshirt, you fucking retard

Power companies have historically had the right to maintain their property. Do you want to do away with that? What if a live power line comes down in your yard?

How about water utilities? If a pipe bursts and you can't turn off the water will you keep them from coming on your property?

You crazies are something else...

more derision and petty insults while avoiding the topic

evacuations are different than banning driving, quite different

Who didn't know the instant they read my post that ButtHurtYurt would immediately begin his standard word parsing games?

MANDATORY evacuation...

MANDATORY driving ban...

In BOTH cases the GOVERNOR issued the order.

In BOTH cases the end result could be arrest if you are found in the evac/ban zone.

They are, for all intents and purposes...the SAME...but like I said, ButtHurtYurt will never admit a Tightie Rightie Governor is wrong...his hate for Liberals won't allow it.

the police state means they CAN throw you in jail

will has ZERO to do with police state. further, you can bet your ass someone cop will haul you off to jail. to claim they won't is the height of absurdity. your claim is that, hey, the state can make any law and i will simply trust the police to not enforce it.

you are a babe sucking the nanny state's tit.

Police found DOZENS of cars stranded in the high snow on the LIE. They were stuck there overnight...did they arrest the occupants of every car after digging them out?

Well then, that would be a perfect case of the police ignoring their orders to arrest drivers out in the snow...of course it's just one more emple of me being right and ButtHurtYurt being wrong so don't expect BHY to admit any such thing any time soon.

perfectly sensible would be to tell people to stay home. not to have criminal liability for driving and then to allow the media an exception.

who cares if it is on the books, would you support slavery if was pursuant to laws passed in the 50's?

Typical ButtHurtYurt.

Resorting to Reductio ab Adsurdum while ignoring DH's sensible comments.

I miss the days when good ol common sense told us not to drive in a fucking blizzard.

You guys are fucking incredible. Make goddam Stormfront look like the Disney forum.

And you are part of the new male species which has been sucking on estrogen since birth drinking out of BPA laced water bottles. No wonder everything seems risky to you. Your brain is telling you you should be gathering nuts and berrys when you watch men out hunting. You have the emotions of a female.

ZOMG this is your example of a "police state"?

Governor Patrick is really "damned if he does and damned if he doesn't", huh?

It's just hilarious, really.

I'm sure you remember discussing Katrina on AOL and how conservatives supported orders that people should evacuate. Then they condemned those who decided to stay on their properties and had to be rescued.

Now it's suddenly a "police state" when Patrick put out a travel ban. And those who went out on the roads are just exercising their rights.

Oh my heavens yes!!

Hypocritical Righties never met a double standard they wouldn't embrace if it meant the opportunity to belittle some Liberal somewhere.

Hah! You're right.

LOL
Connecticut Governor closed all the roads here as well!
Good thing I don't have to go to work to pay my taxes. /sarc
It's double good that I own a lifted 4WD just for being able to go to work in the snow. I sacrifice gas milage all year so that I can still go out and make money when it snows and now some douchebag denies me the right to make a living.

Unfortunately, you can't telecommute carpentry

We've seen worse storms than this and they never closed every road in the state. WTF is going on with all the libtard states going into dictator mode?

one day isn't going to kill you. lighten up
