I know too many like this...

I would like to see the loophole they are using to get SS and Medicare if they only paid in a few years.

You only have to pay in for a certain numbers of quarters to get benefits.
For example one guy a few years ago paid in around $1,200 and draws for the rest of his life.

I understand how many quarters you have to pay in to get 'something', but your 'one guy' is not getting full benefits or anywhere close to that if he only paid in $1200. I find it odd that these are not friends, yet you know how much they have paid in etc...

You are basically saying that this person has only paid SS on about 19,400 over his entire lifetime. Since you know all the other details, what is his SS payment per month?

Bottom line... that is only about $1900 per year for the 10 years.

I am friendly with a lot of Republicans. I really dont have a problem with disagreeing with my friends over politics...

But... Some people really piss me off and I know a lot of Conservatives like this...

A family member of my wife's, thus a family member of mine... Graduated with a Bachelor's degree a couple years ago, after nine years in College. She went to an out of state school for 9 years, her parents paid for 100% of school and living expenses. For the first year after school she lived with her parents in a very fancy Mc. Mansion. She could not keep a jLob as a computer programer. Finally her parents made a down payment on a nice house for her and she moved out. She pays the mortgage but only when she is employed, they pay when she is not.

She has a serious pre-existing condition and is a contract employee at her job that does not pay health insurance.. so her parents have her insured as an employee of there business. They pay 100% of the premium.

She is Gay.

1) She is a rabid Republican and belives we should do away with the student loan program and Public Universities.
2) She is upset at Fanny Mae and does not belive the government should be asisting first time home buyers.
3) She hates Obamacare and believes is is just a government giveaway.
4) The only issue she agrees with the Democrats about is Gay Rights.

She loves to point to her nice house and job and tell people how if she can do it without Government assistance why cant everyone.

If you point out any of these inconsistancies she gets very, very angery.

A Romney republican, did it on my own, with A lot of help from mom and dad! Lol

Did those people pay SS and Medicare taxes throughout their working careers?

This bullshit argument does nothing but rationalize the entitlement mentality. If you have ever worked a day in your life then you paid taxes that fund welfare, Medicaid, unemployment insurance and student loans. Many that have not can rationlize that they will. Many conservatives rationalize farm subsidies and subsidies to businesses too. They only attack certain government programs that they portray as benefitting a certain demographic. They are hypocrites and we don't need anecdotal stories, we have examples of them on the board.

Why is that bullshit? Do you believe one who is forced to pay into S.S. and Medicare all their working life is more principled if they don't accept S.S. or Medicare upon retirement if their goal is to change the system?

I was fired from work in 2009. I was entitled to umemployment insurance but I didn't take it for four months because I thought I was principled and didn't want to get a check like that from the government. Finally I realized if I was being forced to pay into the system it's just stupid not to accept the benefits from it. Do you think it's bullshit I decided to accept UI?

She and her parents are very active in Republican politics, her mother is a former elected official. They give lots of money to the GOP and vote stright Republican.

I can understand that....the parents are over generous to the extreme and she is a spoiled idiot if it took her nine years to get a Bachelor's degree.
Plus, you say she can't even hold onto a job as an entry level programmer....

The parents are probably Conservatives in the real political sense of the word while the daughter is one because its expedient and don't have a clue
as to what it means to be one....if I said I knew an Obama lover with the similar attitudes, it would seem phony...................but its actually true.
I couldn't tell you what drives his political beliefs...but I doubt its anything to do with issues...he just an asshole, not active in politics at all except as a cheerleader...

Except for the simple fact that your post is a lie. Romney is no Kennedy or Jay Rockefeller, or John (Gigolo) Kerry, who never worked a day in their lives......
nice try though.....thanks for playing.

Rana thinks you should pay into the system all your life and let her and her fellow hypocrits get any and all the benefits you've been forced to pay for...

Don't you go into resturants and leave tips and pay for meals and never stay to eat.....?
Go pay for gas and never put any in your car....?
Send money to the gov't for medicare and SS even though you don't work ?

To idiots like Rana, you should, but you bet your ass she wouldn't.

It is bullshit because it rationalizes the entitlement mentality for certain classes. It is bullshit that some old fart on ss and medicare will claim you are a bum for taking UI. I don't believe in chastizing those that accept benefits or using race baiting arguments against government assistance programs as many conservatives here do. I support limited government and I definitely think we could privatize unemployment insurance. But, there is nothing wrong with taking taking government assistance if you need it. There is a problem with arguing that you are entitled to it. Lots of people on SS have no need for it, but they don't give a shit and resist all reforms.
