guys dont let thing1 steer you off track. 20% of muslims (that number is actually higher by the way, that's the very lowball number) believe in killing those that leave their religion. We know this, because they told us that's what they believe. They said it themselves, from their own mouths.

Thing1 has produced no data to suggest otherwise.

Also remember in the future if thing1 posts a poll about "conservatives believe x" to completely and outright dismiss it.

Good luck finding even one poll like that which I've posted in many years here, o' broken record of distorted one-poll finding Islamic hatred.

Tell me something, how easy do you think it would be to go into Saudi Arabia and ask people their views on apostasy? I also wonder how long it would take before the Mutaween arrest you!!

There is no question that those are strict countries. I'm not all pro-religion here. But most people in the world are religious; it's just a fact, and I don't hold it against people.

To say that there is something about Islam which makes it more "violent" than Christianity or any other religion completely ignores thousands of years of history. Violent people will use religion to justify violence, no matter what that religion is.

Yes but we are talking about religions today, in England until the early 19th century pressing to death was still on the statute books!! Can you show me anywhere in the world where public executions and stonings are conducted outside of Islamic countries?

I see that as more of a product of a 3rd world country than of Islam. There are Muslims all over the world.

Beyond that, I'm not interested in throwing stones from the glass house that is America, where we have executions, hate groups, hate crimes, and conduct unnecessary wars that lead to countless civilian casualties.

you assume all religion is inherently good, when the texts of such books are filled with violence, war, hatred, slavery and oppression. this is a false false false assumption.

No one is ignoring thousands of years of history. If you want to start a thread about christians and their history, have at it. I'll love participating in it.

But right now, this thread is talking about islam, and islam has 20% of it's members that believe in killing those that commit apostasy.
 
first we would need some consensus as to who the third world is.....wiki has a map and says the countries in green are third world.....

but its old (1975) and I think its a bit problematic to include India, Brazil, etc in the list....

This site tests the issue based on five different standards, coming up with different countries and number of countries depending in which standard (GDP, per capita income, political repression, human resources, freedom of press)is used.....
