Napalm

Strawman! That's what I'm talking about the hyperbole of the NRA fanatics. A common sense law like keeping a list of the criminally/violently insane so that they don't get their hands on firearms is in no way a threat to 2nd ammendment rights. Only a fanatic would believe that.

Seriously... look up the term straw man... It doesn't mean what you think it means

We are talking about BANNING certain types of weapons and clips Mutt... that is what the fear mongers are suggesting. That is the side of the argument you are taking. That is a rewrite of the 2nd Amendment. It has to be a rewrite or it is a violation of the 2nd.

What would you propose be done that can limit violence with guns??? You said there is a lot... list a couple for us.

The NRA isn't out of touch, you are once again being overly dramatic on this issue. You think by calling them 'extremists' that somehow makes it true. What 'common sense' laws have they opposed?

They are out of touch, a large percentage of their membership doesn't agree with some of their positions.

Again, another Strawman. Rana used a poor example/argument. The point is, no one is threatening anyones 2nd ammendment rights through the use of many common sense gun laws. It's nice to see your State stood up to the NRA fanatics and did just that and I haven't heard of any jack booted government thugs in Colorado kicking in doors and taking peoples guns away. The OP is right. Images can be used to shape public sentiment and we do have a problem with violence in this nation that needs to be dealt with and anyone with half a brain knows that guns are really only a small part of the violence problem. So, to many people in this thread are just having a stupid knee jerk reflex about gun rights (most of the usual suspects). It's not about gun rights. It's about using images to affectively change peoples veiws about violence in our society. How that threatens gun fanatics is beyond me. It just demonstrates how completely irrational some gun fanatics can be.

Again... you prove you don't know what a straw man is.

People ARE threatening the 2nd you twit. They are wanting to ban certain types of guns and mag capacities. That is a violation of the 2nd.

You keep saying "COMMON SENSE" gun laws, yet you ignore the fact that the BAN is not common sense. You ignore the fact that cities like Chicago have bans in place on many weapons, but it does nothing to stop the violence of the criminals... you know... those people who don't follow the law.

It is about gun rights when you have people on this board suggesting we BAN certain types of guns and clip capacities.

You are right about one thing, this discussion is certainly beyond you.

When someone proposes 'lets ban this type of gun'... it is not emotion based to say 'they are trying to take our guns'.

It's a ploy and all the gun lovers get all exited, oh my g-d they are going to take all our guns, then they negotiate for the things they really want like registration and background checks.

Silly gun lovers.

I don't think it's doing that at all. It's really highlighting the power of visual stimuli. I think it was generally accepted among the warpigs in power that America soured on Vietman in part because of the reporting coming back which had so many visuals on the nightly news. That is why they cracked down on that and we had such bullshit as "embedded reporters" for subsequent wars. And why they wouldn't allow pictures of dead soldiers coming back in coffins even. The power of the visual is astounding. And Emmett Till is another powerful example of this.

And yeah, he's right. Wherever you come down on this, you can say what you want, but if any pics like that ever leak out, this is over.

I had the absolute honor and blessing of interviewing Mamie Till for an Atlanta radio station 3 weeks before her death. Her aura and power emanated through the phone. Seriously. It was a spiritual experience.

She never received the recognition that she deserved for demanding that her son's casket remained open .. even under threats of death.

She looked so much like my own mother.

Thanks for posting this.

Agreed. The OP wasn't even arguing anti gun laws.

You honestly think the OP wasnt about anti gun laws? If so, you should just cease attempting to try and join this conversation. It was ALL about anti gun laws. Moore wanted people to use the photos of the dead kids to stir the emotional knee jerk response of 'we need more anti gun laws' in the public. That was the entire point of the OP you twit. Use the photos to further an agenda.

Without doubt, one of the most interesting revelations on this thread is that STY sees the NRA as some sort of moderate, appeasing organization.

For self defence, why would you need an AK47 to chase off an intruder?

LOL... so why a revolver but not a Colt .45 semi or Springfield XD 9? You are arbitrarily choosing which weapons are 'ok' for defense.

Again I ask you... is the person any less dead if shot from the revolver?

You're right about changing public sentiment.....brainwashing a large portion of the US population has already been done successfully....
All you need to do is take the time to watch, listen and learn about how its been done and whats in the future.

Bawahahahaha, going to the KGB as a reliable source now! Priceless! Lol

Silly gun lovers.

Um... what does registration do to prevent crimes?

Um... I just bought another handgun... and I had a background check done in order to get it.

See, that was the point, I don't have to prove shit to you.

Typical of a liberal. Proclaim they know something, when challenged then proclaim that they don't have to show they know it. You are correct, you don't have to do so.

In not doing so, you prove you don't know shit about it.

You said that is one of the things they want... I thought this thread was about ideas to prevent crimes like the one at Sandy Hook.

What is the purpose of registration then? Why would that be something they want?

The key word there is "they"

The thread is not about what you claim.

Bawahahahaha, you don't intimidate me. Go paint with your broad brush somewhere else.
