Actually, she isn't. I realize you may think that the only way white males can talk about race is by lecturing to black people about race with impunity, but there are other ways.

I think it would be a damned shame if the only way we can have a discussion about race is to have it set off by an asshole writing something like what I read here. I happen to not believe it is.
 
In fairness to Superfreak, he did also lecture women on how the GOp was not having a war on women and how stupid we all were for saying that. And then claimed that I and others were filled with hate for telling him he's an asshole and also that we were telling him he wasn't allowed to speak.

So he's not just clueless on race. Let's be fair to Superfreak here.
 
Also, Cawacko, national news? I feel really dumb now, this was the first I have heard of it. I guess I have been wrapped up in Steubinville. I really did not know about this. You know, it's a hard job keeping track of all of the assholes in this world, even in this country, and I will be the first to admit I'm not up to the job. I missed this.

Darla, you are the one that is clueless on race. You think that white men should be excluded from the conversation because 'what could they know? They are a bunch of oppressors!!!'

You may not like everything that guy said, but he tried to convey the need for dialogue.

But this is how I see it: We need to bridge the conversational divide so that there are no longer two private dialogues in Philadelphia—white people talking to other whites, and black people to blacks—but a city in which it is okay to speak openly about race. That feels like a lot to ask, a leap of faith for everyone. It also seems like the only place to go, the necessary next step.
