Because it is pretty self evident unless of course you have grown up doused in liberal culture. The bottom line is that there are sexual predators around. IF women allow themselves to get shitfaced drunk they run the risk of being a victim to a sexual predator. You seem to be advocating women getting shit faced drunk and living a consequence free life. How nice that would be.

Most men aren't at risk of being raped by a woman. Most men aren't at risk of being raped by other men unless they are around men who share the same deviant sexual proclivities as Homo Howey the Hiney Humpin Heathen. As we know all pedophiles who assault young boys are homosexual. It is a known fact. So sexual aggression is a fact of life. Lots of things are facts of life. On one hand you say that a woman can't practice "abstinence" because sex is fun. Anyone who says people should hold back from having sex is called repressive. You call anyone who complains about our oversexualized world having a negative effect a "1950s prude". What you are seeing is liberalism blow up in your face. It is sad that this poor girl is a victim of what your ideology has wrought.

You know both young men and young women here in the States go out, party, get trashed and sometimes get disgusting. But we don't put a separate label on the women. We say that anyone who does that, male or female, is acting drunk and disorderly. We pitch our advice and public service announcements to both genders equally. I've never heard anything on TV, radio or the press that expressly warns women only not to get drunk, and I believe there'd be a pretty loud outcry from women if there was.

You didn't, but I was going by the comments by English celebrities and the videos using the term "laddish." We don't have a special word here to denote women getting drunk as opposed to men getting drunk, and I wonder why they do in England.

At least ILA acknowledged that the Steubenville football players were sexual predators. It's a small step in the right direction. </facetious>
 
For many yrs I lived 1 hr north of Steubenville. We called it Stupidville, it's the perfect place for some pro-rape people around here.
 
Here's a story that highlights, for me at least, how rape is downplayed by some men. The back story is that this cop has been disciplined before for various infractions, but never fired. One of the incidents involved him going to a house to break up a domestic dispute. Then, a few hours later he returned to the house and sexually assaulted the woman while she was drunk and depressed. His comments on the matter:

"He acknowledged a "moral" lapse in 1999 when he was disciplined for returning to the home of a woman who had called 911 to report a domestic disturbance and engaged in a sex act with her after his shift. The woman was drunk and depressed, according to an OMI report.

"That was a moral thing. I was off duty. A three-minute tryst cost me all this," Detective Rende said.

"Three minute tryst", WTH? "A moral thing...", WTH?The man committed a crime and he's treating it like it was a venial sin. He should be in jail. :mad:

I guess you would have to live over here and go out on a Saturday night to just about any town or city and witness it at first hand. The word ladette was coined to describe teenage women who go out and get smashed on a regular basis and maybe end up vomiting in public. I just don't think you have the same culture over there, except maybe around Spring Break.

In some respects, to use "ladette" and "culture" in the same sentence would be an oxymoron.
The ladette culture demonstrates the rise of young women to act like the lads of the late 80's. These lads thought nothing ouf going out for the sole purpose of getting drunk and displaying no respect whatsoever to the people around them. We all want equality for women, and so many young women followed the lads, and developed their own version of it. As a result, they go out drinking for the sole purpose of getting drunk, (often secreting small bottles of vodka in handbags to slip into orange juice), cavort loudly in groups in bars/clubs etc, display no respect for other groups in the area, reveal their breasts to anyone who is interested, and throw up before they get a taxi home with a large kebab.
There is ultimately no real difference between the way these girls behave and the way their male equivalent behave, but for some reason, society seems to frown more on the women.

As for me, I find the notion of going out for the purpose of getting drunk to be distasteful, as well as the idea that, being drunk gives you license to shout, scream, dance, vomit and generaly disrespect anyone. Whether it be lads or ladettes, I think they need to watch videos of themselves when they sober up.

I agree they shouldn't be making those adds trying to victim blame women.

But I also feel like you and many other members of this board keep saying contradictory messages. Many have said that for a rapist, "it's all about power" and domination, and that rapists know they are raping and it's a violent conquest. Well, if that's the case then any type of ad is wasted money because there is no way someone obsessed with sexual power and domination is going to be swayed by a PSA.

Yeah, I am not supportive of any kind of ad about this, and can only imagine that it could bring a lot of people bad flashbacks.

Educating our youth as a part of sex education in the schools is something different.
