Following in the footsteps

Cuomo obviously doesn't know the rules of the streets. He'll probably create more deaths with this law.

With the success of various Crimestoppers programs around the nation, it should go over real good.

I applaud the effort! There are various benefits to reporting all gun sales, among them the increased tax revenue and keeping them out of the hands of crazies.

as well as setting up SWAT raids for your friendly neighborhood dealer competition, or the nosy neighbor across the street. yay NY.

They took quite a pounding on the phones yesterday. Apparently the most reported 'violators' are the NYPD. The staff at the call center are not very happy people these days.

Whats that got to do with spying on your friends and neighbors and turning them in to the authorities for whatever ?

Try to keep up girl.

It means if he didn't support gun control there would be no need for snitches.

Gun Control in Germany, 1928-1945

A common belief among defenders of the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution is that the National Socialist government of Germany under Adolf Hitler did not permit the private ownership of firearms. Totalitarian governments, they have been taught in their high school civics classes, do not trust their citizens and do not dare permit them to keep firearms. Thus, one often hears the statement, "You know, the first thing the Nazis did when they came to power was outlaw firearms," or, "The first thing Hitler did in Germany was round up all the guns....

Unfortunately for those who would like to link Hitler and the National Socialists with gun control, the entire premise for such an effort is false. German firearms legislation under Hitler, far from banning private ownership, actually facilitated the keeping and bearing of arms by German citizens by eliminating or ameliorating restrictive laws which had been enacted by the government preceding his: a left-center government which had contained a number of Jews.

It is not just that the National Socialist firearms legislation was the opposite of what it has been claimed to have been by persons who want to tar modern gun-grabbers with the "Nazi" brush: the whole spirit of Hitler's government was starkly different from its portrayal by America's mass media...

You've left out a few details....

The gun control provisions under the 1938 German Weapons Act, which superseded the 1928 law. As under the 1928 law, ONLY citizens were required to have a permit to carry a firearm and a separate permit to acquire a firearm. Furthermore, the law restricted ownership of firearms to "...persons whose trustworthiness is not in question and who can show a need for a (gun) permit." Under the new law,

Gun restriction laws applied to all guns and ammunition. The 1938 revisions introduced restrictions specifically reiterating the prohibition for Jews to hold firearms, but made it easier for one party nazi regime to gain acquisition and transfer of rifles and shotguns, as was the possession of ammunition."
The legal age at which guns could be purchased was lowered from 20 to 18.
Permits were valid for three years, rather than one year.
The groups of people who were exempt from the acquisition permit requirement expanded. Holders of annual hunting permits, government workers, and NSDAP members were no longer subject to gun ownership restrictions. Prior to the 1938 law, only officials of the central government, the states, and employees of the German Reichsbahn Railways were exempted.
Jews were forbidden from the manufacturing or dealing of firearms and ammunition.

Under both the 1928 and 1938 acts, gun manufacturers and dealers were required to maintain records with information about who purchased guns and the guns' serial numbers. These records were to be delivered to a police authority for inspection at the end of each year.

On November 11, 1938, the Minister of the Interior, Wilhelm Frick, promulgated Regulations Against Jews' Possession of Weapons. This regulation effectively deprived all Jews living in those locations of the right to possess firearms or other weapons.

After 1945, even German police officers were initially not allowed to carry firearms. Private ownership of firearms was not allowed until after 1956.

Not quite like the 2nd Amendment at all..... more like what the Democrats want to impose on US citizens....but instead of Jews, they will have
other groups deprived of the right.
