N Korean situation: How's Obama doing?

I would like to know what everyone thinks here at JPP.

My opinion: WTF? Obama, why are you playing his game... unless it's really your game?

Has Obama been told to escalate this into a tidy little conflict so the war machine can kick out some more widgets?
Money money money moneeeyyy MONEEEEYYYY

Sec of State John Fucking Kerry says that we will inflict harsher economic sanctions on the people of North Korea, so this is bound to work, right??? I mean, the leader of North Korea can't possibly want us to make conditions less desirable in his country by restricting more trade and whatnot, right? Shortly after the SoS stern and ominous warning, the NK president issued a statement suggesting Mr. Kerry attempt an impossible sexual act with himself. But surely they'll come around...

Let me guess: your solution is pre-emptive invasion, right?

Here's the most amazing thing about liberals, they KNOW what the sensible solution is, they just lack the courage to do it. You came up with this all by your little self, because I didn't mention it, and no one else did either. The reason this popped into your empty head, is because you realize there is not really any diplomatic solution to this problem, nothing is going to work, short of putting our army in his country and taking his ass out. But this goes against everything your military-loathing ass stands for, so can't possibly take that position, therefore, you make that the 'position of ridicule' and pretend there is a more 'enlightened' approach which the more 'sophisticated intellectual' can achieve, in such situations. Like MORE economic sanctions, on a country presently living in squalor.

If you really think that's the solution, then you are indeed batshit crazy. But we already know that.

You're insane. Just for starters, how do you think China would react to a U.S. invasion of North Korea?

Just to add, dear Dixie - it truly sickens me how you think you can ascribe "courage" to someone who is willing to send OTHERS into harm's way.

In what kind of warped world is that construed as courage. Only in Dixieland.

China wouldn't do much. One, they need us. Two, they're fucking embarrassed about NK. Doesn't mean an invasion is a good idea (it's fucking not), but the Chinese non-reaction isn't a good argument against it.

An invasion is a terrible idea. Personally I think Obamas reactions, the ones I know about anyways (increasing deployments for defensive measures) is about as good as we can expect. Of course a much better option would be to remove all the sanctions in the first place (it's the reason NK started all this shit). Sanctions aren't going to affect Kim, they affect the already starving people of NK. By keeping them starved, Kim has power over them and can keep saying that we're at fault. If we took away that card, it'd be much harder for him to remain in power.

I agree. Kim is most likely bluffing. If, on the other hand, he is a madman with his finger poised on the button. An invasion will do nothing but force his hand. If he does it anyway, it'll be the end of North Korea as we know it. It's a shitty game to play....especially for South Korea, who would be the most likely victim.

I think we need to put more pressure on China to beat their pet dog into submission. Perhaps threaten them with pulling out our business ties in the country. Of course, Corporate America loves their slave labor, so I doubt they would allow that to happen....after all, they spent good money for lobbying groups and kickbacks to get that labor away from the American workforce.

I don't really care. China is aware of the problem, if they wanted to do something about it, they could. Everyone, including YOU AND CHINA, know the only solution here, you're just afraid to do it. Look... if it were a case where economic sanctions worked, and we could affect a change by utilizing them, it would have worked by now, we've been doing this for 60 years. At some point, we have to wake the fuck up and face the facts that we all know, including you.

That's why we need to do what I suggested. Put the economic pressure on China to do something. But, you want to talk about courage? Does our government have the courage to stand up to their corporate benefactors?

This is like saying you want to solve the slavery issue by having the northern textile industries boycott cotton. It would have worked, but it wasn't ever going to happen. China benefits greatly from NK, just the way it is, and they don't want that to go away. By the same token, we have NO leverage with China, because they hold most of our foreign debt.

So we should force other nations to tow our line? And how is that exactly moral or just?

What benefits does China get from NK?

That's completely idiotic.
Of course it is.... it's liberal.

And you fools will never learn. If you didn't learn anything from your Iraq adventure - you'll never learn.
While you perverts gave the worst president in the history of this country a second term? Pull your head out of your ass.

And that wasn't my adventure, granola cruncher. I just want terrorists inside pine boxes.
