No it didn't. Our military presence in Iraq spanned more than 10 years. The war with Saddam Hussein's military and regime, was over in about 18 days, and I think we had one casualty. The fighting was with the insurgents, mostly terrorist elements from outside who had infiltrated from open borders with Syria and Iran, as well as established underground terrorists who had been in Iraq all along. Your simple mind can't grasp this complexity, so you believe we were "at war with Iraq" during this time, when the truth is, newly-trained Iraqi security forces were fighting along side our guys to defeat the insurgents. How could we "be at war" with the very people who are helping us kill the bad guys?

Bush's plan in Iraq was actually Clinton's plan from 1998, to get rid of Saddam and replace his regime with a western style democracy. (See 1998 Iraqi Liberation Act) I have not suggested such a plan for North Korea, I don't give a shit about what kind of government they have. They are an isolated country who pose no real threat to any US ally or interest, other than Japan and South Korea. They currently only pose a threat to these allies by their ability to launch nukes at them, and this is why we should act to mitigate this threat. I don't care about taking over North Korea and establishing a democracy, so the mission become a whole lot easier to achieve and do so with great success.

You say my idea is "crazy" but the definition of "insanity" is to repeatedly do the same thing expecting a different result. Kerry is currently working on yet another round of "economic sanctions" which have never worked on North Korea, and never will. You don't have a solution, except to ignore it and basically turn our backs on our allies. And yeah... I guess we can do that, what are we ever going to need allies for, right?
 
The ILA specifically forbade American military involvement in Iraq. To suggest that Bush's invasion of Iraq was in line with Clinton's ILA is ridiculous.

Again - the Iraq War lasted TEN YEARS. You know damned well that if they expected that kind of commitment, the public never would have bought it, and we never would have invaded.

I'd love to hear you tell a vet who was there - one of those people you so "courageously" sent into harm's way - that the "war" was over in 18 days, and the rest of that time wasn't really a "war."

No....the vast majority them were locals who didn't take too kindly to us being in their country, pushing them off their roads, fucking up their families, and in general being gigantic dicks. And yet it'll be TOTALLY different in NK, where a people have been preparing for such events for the last 60 years.

The insurgents were radical Islamic fundamentalists and former Saddam cronies, and most of the radical Islamists were from someplace other than Iraq. 70% of the population turned out to vote, in spite of death threats. To try and pretend that we were fighting "Iraq" during this time, is laughable.

Lol... No it did not "specifically forbid" anything. It stipulated that the Act was not to be mistaken for a declaration of war or authorization to use military force, but it did not "forbid" any such action at a later time. I have never argued that Bush used the 1998 Iraqi Liberation Act as his justification to use military force, that was the Congressional Authorization to Use Military Force in Iraq, which came shortly before he used military force. But the policy of removing Saddam and replacing him with Democracy, came from the 1998 ILA, go read it for yourself if you don't believe it.

No, dixie hasn't been in the military. However, if we are going to disqualify people who never were in the military, then we need to have Obama step down from office. Whenever we have votes pertaining to anything regarding the military, we need to disqualify all votes from representatives who never served in the military. And when we go to the polls to cast our vote for commander in chief of our military, those who never served in the military should have their votes tossed out. You cool with that? The war was plan was solely the creation the military....the tactics, the methods, the number of personal, the weapons used, etc.....they are the "architects" of the war....

Thousands of young college students, young married fathers and those with physical problems received deferments.....10's of thousands.....

Obama was duly elected President and Commander in Chief and has the Joint Chiefs of Staff as his advisors....you, on the other hand are just a internet tough guy hiding behind his computer screen demanding that we should send Americans to their deaths when you yourself are too cowardly to serve yourself and have absolutely no skin in the game....people will die...Obama will have to write letters to families, and you'll still be a little douche on a message board.
