Gun Registration Fails...So Sorry...LOL

Except you were proven wrong at every turn.

Only in the eyes of a gun dealer who has a personal motive for this shit.

I wasn't proven wrong. You said yourself that face to face sales are exempt. So....once again.... what's to stop me from buying a shitload of weapons, list them on one of those sites, meet face to face with the buyer, and make a hefty profit?

The buyer can say no and its customary to get a bill of sale with a copy of your ID. Of course there's nothing to atop you but then there's nothing that stops me from going downtown at this hour and buying tons of stolen guns from black market dealers at greatly reduced prices. So ya know, there's that.

What's wrong with a personal motive? I'd think freedom to be the best possible motive for any action..

So....the honor system....thought so.

Yet you tell me mandatory background checks on these types of sales won't save at least SOME lives. I call bullshit.

Not enough to effectively eliminate private sales, which is what mandatory checks do. It certainly hasn't reduced crime in CA where its already law, what makes you think that it would nationally? Further what makes you think that something as complex as crime can be solved with such simplistic gestures?

It can't....who said anything about definitive, permanent solutions? How many lives saved is worth an INCONVENIENCE?

However, to be fair....I did see a rational argument against the inconvenience. It came from the Senator from Alaska. The state and population is so spread out that it becomes an UNREASONABLE inconvenience....I am sure this also applies to SOME of our other very rural states. There would have to be some kind of accommodation made for those situations. But for the vast majority of us, it would be a mere nuisance. Unless, if course...you're involved in shady shit....which is what we are trying to stop, right?

It's all in one's perspective. You and STY apparently believe something big and nasty from the state is going to happen and it's just a question of when; I believe there's not a snowball's chance of anything happening at all.
the issue is one of you creating a bright line distinction between freedom and tyranny. It's easy for most people to do when nothing affects them directly. Reality is much different though.

um.... that was like 70 years ago. Haven't you heard? The world is perfect now. Shit like that will never happen ever ever ever ever again.
that's because we're 'smart' and learn from our historical mistakes, like never allowing a king to declare someone a criminal and imprison them for years with no trial.....oh, wait.

so guys, how does it feel knowing that not even six year olds getting blasted in the face was enough to steamroll the constitution? :)

if you can't get it done now, you'll never get it done.

muahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.
this is something I wouldn't put bank on. the first time that more than one elected federal official is killed in a single incident, you can guarantee that there will be a comprehensive gun bill passed in days.

If celebrating means going against 90% of the population and 74% of NRA members....have at it.

But I have to question what happened to a government by, of and for the people?
they were given certain rules via the constitution that tells them they are not allowed to override the rights of the 10% because they 'feel' like it.

How do you know they're not? You got a congressional hotline or something?

How do you know that the next time this comes up, you'll be wishing to God you would have taken Manchin/Toomey?

Like I said in a different thread....keep fucking over the masses, and they will revolt...then your precious Tea Party/Libertarian movement won't have a leg to stand on.

Your guys will be voted out and the libs you despise so much will fully take over.

And if you don't think it can happen, take a look at 2010, when Dems had a majority in both houses...what happened then? It can and will swing the other way if you guys keep doubling down on stupid
double down? i'll place odds that 10% of 300 million can easily overcome your military and police forces of 5 million.

the majority of private sellers actually have a moral compass. 98% of the gun owners I know would never willingly sell one of their guns to someone they suspected would use it to commit crimes.

and if people actually had an inalienable right to life, nobody would ever be a crime victim, would they?

Well, since it's in the Preamble of the Constitution, then I guess it's just as inalienable as your right to obtain firearms without a background check. More so....because it didn't require an Amendment....I mean, if you want to go old school...it's one of the first things written.

and yet your silence when the government violates that 'right to life' sends the message that you really aren't that interested in making the government do it's job. It makes it extremely difficult to accept that you're serious about it.

My military and police? What? Aren't you a part of this country?
try not to play coy with me. you know damned well that if large groups of gun owners decide to violently protect their gun rights that you'll be one of those demanding that the government send cops and military after us.
