8th grader suspended and arrested for wearing an NRA t-shirt??

So here's the promised video from gungungunstepdaddy. Or not.

No...instead he's beggin for money money money..and what the hell! Let's sell some guns to shoot dem dere police and liberal teachers!

In other words, this has nothing to do with a kid's first amendment rights. It's all about inbred stepdaddy's mission. Win # 4924 for Howey!

Again... your hate filled bullshit... imagine if someone was stereotyping gay guys in the manner in which you are acting towards this family... I wonder how tolerant you would find such a person.

I don't care what agenda the kid's family might have.

It was a harmless, non-disruptive t-shirt. The teacher was out of line in asking him to remove it/invert it.

Right on the hells of the Howitzer Win 4924, we present you the Howitzer Win 4925!

May I address the Honorable Trinity of Four?

May I present you the most damning evidence of all regarding the obvious guilt of redneck child Jarod Lee Marcum? Said student was, in fact, in direct violation of his school's Dress Code. You must convict because the shirt don't fit!

LOGAN COUNTY SCHOOLS'
STUDENT DRESS CODE

The Logan County Board of Education believes that its major concern is the safety and well-being of the students of Logan County, and to provide every child with an appropriate environment for a thorough and efficient education.

Therefore, the development of a policy on dress code is for the protection of the health and safety of the students and to remove any distractions or obstacles from the daily educational process.

Since there is a direct relationship between dress and behavior, it is believed that students and staff should dress appropriately for the school setting. Appropriate, will be defined here as right and correct for the school setting and functions, conducive to learning, and shall not distract from or be disruptive to the learning process.

Logan County School students should always be neat and clean in their dress and appearance. It is expected that each student will maintain a proper mode of dress, both during the school day and at all school activities. If in the judgment of the administration, a student is dressed inappropriately, the student will be required to change clothes or cover up inappropriate clothing before returning to classes.

Time out of class will be regarded as unexcused. Additional measures may be taken if deemed necessary by the administration. The administration has the final authority on all matters relating to the dress code.

Dress Code

Student dress and grooming should be in good taste and appropriate for the occasion.

Sunglasses are not to be worn in the classroom unless a medical permit is on file.

No hats or bandannas are to be worn in the building during the class day. If students must wear a hat to school, the hat must be placed in the locker and left there until the school day is over. Vocational students may take their hat at the time of their departure.

Appropriate clothing should be worn at all times. The main torso of the body should not be visible. Therefore, the wearing of mesh shirts would be inappropriate without and appropriate shirt under the mesh shirt. The wearing of garments considered as tank tops or tops with spaghetti straps is inappropriate.

Any article of clothing or accessories, such as jewelry with spikes, dog collars, wallet chains, chains worn as belts, that may cause injury to another student may not be worn at school or school functions.

Clothing and accessories that display profanity, violence, discriminatory messages or sexually suggestive phrases are not to be

Clothing that displays advertisements for any alcohol, tobacco, or drug product is not to be worn at school or school functions.

Waistband of shorts, slacks, skirts, and similar garments must be worn above the hips. If belts, suspenders, or straps are worn, they must be worn in place and fastened. Undergarments shall not be visible. Any article of clothing that is excessively torn may not be worn.

Shoes must be worn at all times. Shoes with laces should be laced and tied at all times.

Business-style blazers, suitcoats, and ties are permitted but outdoor jackets and coats are not to be worn or carried to class.

The legs of trousers and pants shall be worn down at all times.

Hem lengths on dresses, skirts, and shorts must be no higher than mid thigh.

Thank you, Honorable Trinity of Four.

In conclusion, said Defendent, redneck child Jarod Lee Marcum is indeed, Guilty of violation of the School Board's Dress Code in that he wore to school a T-Shirt with the arms cut off. A reasonable argument could be made that said redneck child could possible be in violation of other provisions of said Dress Code, as highlighted above.

I recommend a commuted life sentence for the convicted redneck child Jarod Lee Martin with mandatory attendance at a Military Academy so he may learn respect for his elders and authority figures; and a compulsory life sentence for his inbred father who obviously needs to be away from children.

Now I have a moral dilemma. I have a 7th grade student at school today who is wearing an NRA T-shirt ... And get this ... A matching Browning ball cap. We have the exact same wording in our student handbook as the school in this story. I checked the other day when this story was posted. As the Dean of Students at this public school should ask him to turn the shirt inside out or should I just I suspend this young man who heretofore has not been a discipline problem? Maybe I should contact his parents, one a science teacher here and the other our Superintendent. Oh what to do what to do?

You should leave the boy alone... and let him express himself in a non-threatening and non-distracting way.

1) Because at this point we have the kids statement that is what he did. At this point, the school and cops are not talking. So the assumption is based on what we know at this point.

2) No Jarod, I didn't say ANY reaction is acceptable. But if a cop tells you to jump off a bridge, you have the right to tell him NO. You do not have the right to violate his rights just because he violated yours. Why must you insist upon creating straw men?

You have a right to tell the cop no, I agree. But it does not give you the right to be disruptive.

LMAO... his shirt fit none of those... NONE.

You have a right to tell the cop no, I agree. But it does not give you the right to be disruptive.

If the kid was in the principals office when the cops arrived, then the cops simply took the word of the teacher that the kid was 'disruptive'. From the accounts that have been told thus far, all the kid did was tell the teacher no. He then got sent to the principals office, where he again said no. The cops showed up... asked him to sit down, he again said no. I have yet to see anything to show that the kid was disruptive.

IT looks like the sleeves are cut off to me, but who gives a shit, why should that be against dress code. To me, as long as your private parts are covered you are fine.

The wording said excessively torn. Look at the sleeves, they are pretty much uniform. They are not cut to the point that they are even a 'muscle shirt' let alone a tank top. There are no frayed edges. But you are right... none of us should care that a kid wore that shirt to school. Which brings us back to the abusive teacher.

People who say "no" when a cop asks them to sit down are sometimes tasered to death, but the idiots here actually spent a week waiving their arms and getting on their poutrage over this, and they don't even know what happened. It's amazing. I can't wait to see how long this goes on.

Let's see if you guys can do 600! Come on!

You seriously need to get a more challenging day job.

While I'm surprised how long the thread has gone on, to me, the whole thing just speaks to the larger issue of how we just want to shut down opinions that we don't agree with. It's just a repetitive pattern - whether it's the Dixie Chicks or a kid wearing an NRA t-shirt.

I know I'd be ticked if my kid wore a shirt like that (and by like that, I mean a shirt with the name of any legit organization) and some arrogant teacher tried to get him to take it off or wear it inside-out, and then created a big story about him being "disruptive" just because the kid refused.

I don't think it speaks to anything, dress codes in school have existed forever. To me it's a hilarious non-issue.

We plan to hit at least 3000... just to see how many times you come on this thread whining about how much you just hate this thread and how silly it is for people to post in it.

Current over/under is 127

You can do it! Whine away! Get the over.

I would have to know more of the story to have an opinion. If he did nothing but say no, he should not have been arrested and would likely have a great case to appeal to the Supreme Court.
