Poll: Majority Wants Death Penalty For Bombing Suspect If Convicted

If Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is convicted in a federal court, Americans overwhelmingly want the 19-year-old suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings to be sentenced to death, according to a new poll released Wednesday.

The latest ABC News/Washington Post poll showed that 70 percent of Americans — including large majorities of Democrats and Republicans — are in favor of the death penalty for Tsarnaev. A little more than a quarter said they are opposed to the death penalty for the younger of the two alleged bombers. Tsarnaev's older brother, Tamerlan, was killed amid a firefight with police earlier this month.

I'm in favor of the death penalty for all first degree murders, heck I'll toss in the option for felony murders too, though I don't think that should be mandatory. It's a pretty simple rule, you kill somebody with intent, you get the needle, or maybe even the axe.

Isn't strange that all the years that the IRA was bombing the shit out of Northern Ireland and mainland Britain, no terrorists/freedom fighters were ever executed. In fact during all that time the US was sending funds for weapons and calling the British imperialists.
