so the fact that there weren't Republicans in the 1850s is hardly relevant......I believe the issue was whether social conservatives were around before the 1970s......
Only 18 more meaningless posts about nothing to go!
Go for it Sweetie, you're an expert on meaningless posts.
Only 18 more meaningless posts about nothing to go!
The issue, before you tried to derail where the discussion was going by extraneous gotcha attempts, was that the People of the South who fought for Slavery, and against Segregation, are the same people who are Southern Republicans now.
no numbnuts....the issue, before you tried to derail it by blaming Republicans for everything racist, was when social conservatives started voting.......
That may have been the issue to you... It was clearly not the big picture. I don't blame Republicans for everything racist, there is plenty of racism in all groups of people. I was simply pointing out that those "Democrats" from the 1960's are now Republicans.
you have no idea who "those" Democrats are now.....and the fact remains that Republicans who voted for Eisenhower were just as much social conservatives as the ones who voted for Reagan.....the difference is Reagan Democrats (of which I am one) and I didn't vote for Reagan because I hated blacks, I voted for Reagan because I hated the economic policies of a white guy from Plains, GA........
So the people of the State of Alabama had an epiphany and huge political conversion, they went from the most loyal liberal Democrats to the most conservative Republican state within a 10 year period? Amazing... you will have to describe for the reasoning behind that and what led to the largest political shift in American History? What factors caused these people to from incredibly Liberal to arch Conservative?
how about double digit inflation and lines at gas stations.......I don't think it took ten years, I think it was four......shucks, the only reason Carter got elected in the first place was because of Watergate.....four years of loyal liberals was enough to put Republicans back in office for 16 years.......
So the people of Alabama became die hard social conservatives in the 1970's because of inflation and lines as gas stations? Is that what you are saying?
against all reason you choose to congress to that false idea.... Go right ahead. The truth is that The vast majority of white men from Alabama voted Democrat until the 1970's then the within just a very few years the vast majority of white men from Alabama switched and have never looked back.good lord no......I would think by now what I have been saying would be clear to even you.....social conservatives have always voted conservatively...add to that the Reagan Democrats who left the Democrats in the 70s over economic issues and the Democrats lost the south......the racist Democrats in the South are still racist Democrats.....
against all reason you choose to congress to that false idea.... Go right ahead. The truth is that The vast majority of white men from Alabama voted Democrat until the 1970's then the within just a very few years the vast majority of white men from Alabama switched and have never looked back.
what a fool.....
This thread made me think of when one of my bro's was in the military and telling us about clothing regulations. So I got on a military forum where posters were talking about wearing civilian clothing while off-duty.
The question: I was just reading over AR 670-1 and couldnt find anything specifically about the wear of civies when off duty. My question is am I missing something or is there an actual regulation that addresses this? Everything in the AR says on duty.
A response: Are you referring to the ability to wear clothes off duty, or the ability to wear certain clothes off duty?
Generally speaking (Army-wide), there's no regulation I know of that addresses it, but local commanders can make their own call. On an Iraq deployment, our commander forbade us from wearing anything but ACUs and PTs on the FOB. I've also seen commander's memos that forbade wearing certain provocative, offensive, or tattered clothes. Ultimately, the wear (or not) of civilian clothes "off duty" is going to be the commander's call, and perfectly within his/her right.
So to my question: does the military have the right to tell people what they are and aren't allowed to wear while off-duty? And what if the clothing was an NRA t-shirt?

Yes. You are effectively "on call" 24/7 in the military. Especially "war" time. The commander issues an order telling what on duty or off duty clothing to wear. If the commander orders you to wear your uniform off duty, you do. Hell, if he tells you to sleep in your dress blues, you do.
If the commander determines that an NRA tshirt negatively affects unit morale, you don't wear it.
Does the serviceman have the right to fight those orders on First Amendment grounds?
