A 78 year old texas woman was arrested for trying to block bulldozers on her own land. Except, it isn't her land anymore. A federal judge ruled that the gov't could seize her land via eminent domain and sell/give it to TransCanada for the Keystone Pipeline.

WTF?? A private company can use the gov't to get land for the use of the private company and profit?? Is this what we have come to people???

For a pipeline that is not approved? Many of us hope Obama won't approve it, but since he's a right-leaning corporatist, he most likely will. The funny thing is, if this was his first term, that is one of the few things that would make me not vote for him. Well, that and the fact that he has continued Bush's war on our liberties via the Patriot Act renewal and the NDAA.

1954: Berman v. Parker
The Berman decision, however, profoundly expanded the definition of what constitutes a “public use” and created incentives for abuse by governments and private developers to circumvent the free market. In this case coming out of Washington, D.C., the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the constitutionality of “urban renewal”—efforts by the federal government and local officials to revitalize urban areas to supposedly remove slums and eliminate blight. In this one decision, the Court transformed the words “public use” to mean “public purpose” as defined by a legislature or administrative agency.

In Berman’s wake, governments began vastly expanding the definition of blight so they could condemn perfectly fine properties for private development under the pretense of urban renewal. In addition, many state supreme courts adopted the rationale of Berman, reading their public use clauses the same way. Continuing down this slippery slope, governments began to bypass the charade of declaring an area blighted and instead used eminent domain to take homes and businesses so that the land could be given to other private parties who the government believed would produce more tax revenue than the current owners.

Big business has been using the eminent domain to grab land for years. It is the bought-and-paid-for politicians who made this possible. Throwing out the Liberal v. Conservative denial is what they want. That way they get to keep doing whatever the fuck they want to do to us.

You're obviously a BDS sufferer to connect your gripes about Obama to Bush.....
Neither The Patriot Act nor NDAA is today, remotely like what Bush passed last decade........your pinhead that you elected, given his arrogance and appetite for
power has grossly deformed and grown both into the monsters they are today....not Bush.

What you term Bush's war on our liberties pales in comparison to what this wanna-be-king has done, is doing, and wants to do to our right.....

he has no use for the 1st or 2nd amendments but obviously loves the 5th as you've seen recently....

BDS sufferer? Can't you all at least come up with your own psychological characterization of us? Just because you changed the name of the President doesn't mean you can use it.

The rest of your post is equally delusional. Hey, why can't George Bush leave the country? I'm pretty sure President Obama is one of the most admired men in the world...not that he deserves all of it. I certainly didn't think he deserved the Nobel prize, but just NOT being Bush earned that man so many credits with the rest of the world. I recently saw a cartoon in a foreign language. It was a support group of evil; sitting around the room were Darth Vader, Hitler, Bin Laden, Bush, and Gargameth from the Smurfs.. The caption was Hitler talking saying "Hello, may name is Adolf....", everyone else was saying "Hello Adolf..."... The point being, Bush was in the group.

Sorry for the complete digression from the topic.
