Until our leaders admit the true nature of Islamic extremes, we will never defeat it

Life is indeed good here (unless you're some poor dumb bastard stuck in michigan) but there are tons of Islamic countries that are incredible places to live. They're not all reactionary shitholes in a dessert.

Nice place to visit, but as a woman, I would not live there, they are still a little backwards when it comes to women's rights.

I've never understood many liberals' love affair with Islam. Surely if Sharia were to ever become law of the land, they'd be first to go.

you are actually an anti-muslim bigot and your posts are dehumanizing and filled with hate, which is what they defend against. They certainly do not have a "love affair" with Islam, and to accuse liberals of being sympathetic to Sharia law is just so funny it shows how dumb you guys are really.

Mott, I do understand that you attempted to set me up believing I'd assume the country they lived in where divorce was illegal was a Muslim country. You notice I saw that coming a mile away right? YOu must think you are talking to Superfreak?

Now that we have that out of the way, did you want to make any comment on the Human Rights Watch link about Dubai? A country you said was a great place to live? For who?

Make that BLACK and BROWN people being slaughtered by Obama, the Dark Slayer.

true... I was simply using his own words against him.

Time to close the majority of our international based bases (especially European). bring our troops home, let Europe defend itself, let the mid east do its thing (whatever that may be), let Japan and China fight for dominance in Asia. Cut defense by at least a third (if not half). Take half of that spending and reduce the debt, take the other half and repair the infrastructure that has been neglected for a decade+.

YOUR tax dollars at work.

U.S.-backed Syrian rebels reportedly massacre Christian village

Members of the Free Syrian Army reportedly attacked the Christian-dominated al-Duvair village in Reef on the outskirts of Homs on Monday, where they massacred its citizens, including women and children, before the Syrian Army interfered.

This reported attack comes shortly after intense fighting in the city of al-Qusseir over the weekend, in which Bashar Al-Assad's forces inflicted heavy casualties on the rebels.

Assad's forces launched an offensive in April in an effort to cut off supply lines to the rebels by taking the city and its surrounding areas from the rebel groups that had been entrenched there since last year. Two weeks ago, the Syrian forces reached the center of the city

While the sources describing Monday's massacre are supportive of Assad, it's possible that it occurred since the rebel groups fighting the Assad regime are composed mainly of members of al-Qaeda and al-Qaeda affiliated groups and have committed war crimes and atrocities in the past.

Jabhat al-Nusra, the branch of al-Qaeda that fought and killed American and allied troops in Iraq, have positioned themselves in Syria and control the rebel movement.

The U.S. and other Western governments that are backing the FSA have acknowledged the presence of jihadists but insist that they're only a small part of the rebel movement. However, al-Qaeda and other Islamic extremist groups have been at the front of the rebel movement since day one of the Syrian war that began two years ago.

According to German intelligence, 95 percent of the rebels aren't even Syrian.

“Nowhere in rebel-controlled Syria is there a secular fighting force to speak of,” the New York Times reported last month.

In April, Abou Mohamad al-Joulani, the head of al-Nusra, pledged allegiance to Ayman al-Zawahri, the head of al-Qaeda.

Members of the FSA have admitted that their plan is to institute sharia law, and the rebels now have a brigade named the Osama bin Laden Brigade.

Despite the evidence of al-Qaeda connections, the U.S. government continues to support the FSA.

Last week, Sens. Robert Menendez, D.-N.J., and Bob Corker, R-Tenn., drafted a bill that, if passed, would directly arm the Syrian rebels with lethal weaponry. The U.S. government has so far only provided non-lethal supplies and humanitarian aid.

On Monday, Sen. John McCain made a surprise visit to Syria where he met with Gen. Salem Idris, the leader of the Supreme Military Council of the FSA. McCain has also called for arming the rebels as well as direct U.S. military intervention in the war.

That might just qualify as moderate republican, now lose the swaczsticker

interesting, 99% of the practitioners of islam in the u s of a are peaceful, however, the other 1% more than make up for the rest with their radicalization. our 'wars' against terrorism have spawned more terrorists than they have killed.

Where does this often cited claim come from? I've never seen any evidence to suggest this. Public opinion polls show that support for bin laden and al Qaeda shot up in Islamic countries after 9/11. Since our invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq, that support has continually fallen.

The fact that you even think Shari'ah could become the law of the land is proof positive that if brains were taxed, you'd get a refund.

oth, there are a large number of wacko Christians that think that the bible should be the law of the land and would welcome a christian theocracy

fortunately, there are enough nonchristians to counter balance the wackos of any religion to prevent a theocracy of any stripe...so far

oh well

Yes....as long as the US Constitution is the law.of the.land? There will be no Theocracy in the United States....Sharia, Mosaic, or other.

Righties have no faith.....in the law, in God, or in much of anything.

t the true nature of Islamic extremes, we will never defeat it

So, we've never passed unconstitutional laws or had SCOTUS hand down bad rulings?

Unconstitutional is somewhat a matter of opinion, isn't it?

How do you feel about Citizen's United?

I feel that the idea that money = speech.is utterly ridiculous. It creates an environment where the more.money you have, the more speech you're allowed.

But there are some things that remind static....like the freedom of religion.

I don't really see much of a difference between womens rights in Catholic countries vs Islamic countries. They're both chattel property. Point being, guess who tend to be the most staunchest defenders of both Islamic and Catholic faith?

It's all of us, we allow it to be done in our name with our tax dollars.
I wasn't really meaning to be partisan in my comment to Tom so much as pointing out that he was waisting his time with bigots like Patriot66, I Hate Uhmerica, Racist X and Novidiot.
