Much was made a here a week or so ago about the wonders of Tesla and how it was a "beacon" of gobblement perfection and its ONE quarter of profitability. Well, someone did some digging into their numbers and VOILA, as I suspected, it is all fucking hype.

Now I know the pie in the sky fools who have a hard on for "electric engines" will stick their noses in the air and scoff at such foolishness, but numbers don't lie. Suffice it to say, selling these credits is not a model for future success in the auto business. Or maybe it is. Maybe their entire model is to lose money on cars but sell the credits to everyone else.
If you think about it, it would be genius and once again show the folly of gobblement intervention with these bogus CAFE standards. Tesla takes taxpayer money to presumably make electric cars. They don't make any other types of cars so they are swimming in the ZEV (look it up if you don't know). All of its competitors like Nissan and GM make other models besides electric cars so it will be a challenge for them to meet the gobblement regulations while still making a car people want to buy. Enter the selling of the ZEV. Tesla makes money and everyone meets their gobblement quota. Genius.
But alas this too will not last.
