Atherton Revolts Over Cost Of Obama Visit, Targets Donors

I thought this was kind of interesting. Atherton is one of the wealthiest cities in the U.S. The medium home price is close to $4 million. If they were able to sue and win would this change how President's host fundraisers? I would imagine not over a relatively small amount but just curious what others thought.

If the local police or whatever, provided the services without being asked, its their own problem.....if they didn't have a budget for it, they should
have ignored the visit.... too bad for Atherton.

$8K? I used to live very close to Atherton and those people should totally reimburse the police department.

Through a relative, I know a man who married the woman who is one of the founders of salesforce.com. They tore down a $3 million home in Atherton to build their dream house. Make the fuckers pay. (incidentally, he has an engineering degree from Cal Poly but he stays home and takes care of the kids. Because he can.)

The Palo Alto Education Foundation (next to Atherton) raises $4-5 million a year to give to their local public school district. That is another reason their kids will be smarter and more successful than yours.

Eh, there are several schools in S.F. that I would choose over Palo Alto High or Menlo-Atherton though you can't really go wrong either way.

This just occurred. Did a city sue last year too?

I don't think they sued. You posted a story about traffic jams in a rich area where Obama was visiting. Obama was on one side of town and Romney was at a convention center? Had to be you, right?

Hmmm, I posted last year sitting in a long traffic jam when Obama passed one block from me. I know there was a day in LA when the entire west side shut down and it was blasted all over Facebook (people being stuck in traffic).

Maybe you didn't post it...I remember something about it being a fundraiser.
