The stupidization of American government

LMAO... ok Dung... so they got $600B in tax increases... thanks for playing.

No one said otherwise. What I took issue with is the pretense that Republicans voted to increase taxes in connection with the fiscal cliff deal. They didn't do that any more than they voted for the sun to rise tomorrow.

But back to my main point. Even assuming the Republicans voted for $600b in revenues, we're at $900 billion in cuts (it's actually more now, I believe) to $600 billion in revenues and the Repubilcans demanding that every penny of the $1.2T in additional cuts must come from revenues.

THe BCA built in about $917 billion (at the time of passage) in cuts plus an additional $1.2 to be worked out by the SuperCommittee or sequestration would kick in.

the CBO said there would be $917 billion in savings over ten years if the government kept to its baseline projections.....the baseline projection for 2012 was $1.266T, actual outlay was $1.344T....only $78B off target, eh?......

even then, you still aren't talking about cuts....you're still talking about smaller increases......

And my earlier statement applies even when I get my way. Now that the GOP attracts southern voters, it means that both parties represent stupid.

Nope. The BCA called for $2.1T in cuts over 10 years, the first $900 billion of which were implemented immediately.

It called for spending cuts or DEFICIT cuts? Because the deficit cuts can also be done with higher taxes (ie... more revenue) rather than reduced spending.

Show us the $900B in spending cuts that were implemented immediately.

It really wouldn't have been that hard to make the cuts & raise the revenues needed to avoid this past week's disaster. Tip O'Neil & Reagan would have done this in their sleep. It was all kinds of different in the '80's and prior to that; those were the days when the "base" took a backseat to compromise when it came to the good of the people as a whole.

Now, it's only about the base, 24x7. Obama & Boehner & the rest would rather posture and get high marks from their respective stalwarts for "holding their ground" than actually fix a problem.

For this, I blame Rush Limbaugh (and subsequently every idiot talk radio & cable pundit that followed him). He is relentless about the evils of "compromise", and how traitorous those who engage in it are. All to a chorus of "ditto's".

We reward this behavior, and get the gov't we deserve as a result.

why are you lumping Obama with the right wing cabal?

I already did

this is not about carter this is about why you keep blaming the left for what the right is doing?

where you first asked it go look.

Im not hunting it down because you NEVER produce my quotes you claim exist

You never answered. All you said was that he had been in the south too long, or something equally evasive.

Which I guess is your way of saying he's a racist? Are you saying that Jimmy Carter is a racist, desh?
