3-Year-Old Colorado Boy Dies From Accidental Gunshot

why do you guys always try to change the subject?
Not changing the subject. Just replying to others' remarks.

I originally said the stepfather should be charged with a crime, under one or more of the hundreds of thousands of laws already in existence everywhere in this nation. I further said that no one should own a gun without a way to securely store it, adding that if one cannot afford a gun safe, one cannot afford to own a gun. I still feel that way. The stepfather should be arrested, charged, and sentenced to a prison term, and that event should be widely reported--at least as widely reported as the original tragedy. It has been proven that certainty of punishment is far more effective a deterrent to crime than severity of punishment that is rarely given. And make no mistake about it. What happened here was a crime.

OK "evince"? Back on subject?

Murders are just as bad when done with swords and blunt instruments...at least for the victims. UK reporting of murders has been a pack of adjusted statistics. And you know what Mark Twain said about statistics. Don't force the murder rate into this discussion. If you take the FBI "Crime in the United States" and correlate it with the U.S. Census, you'll find more about murders than you'll want to know.
There's is 4x lower, duck the fact all you want gun nut!

Plenty, and you are without imagination if you cant some up with some yourself. Compare cars to guns, you cant buy a car (a necessity to live in most parts of America) without all kinds of safety features designed to protect children. .

And still we have 30,000, 40,000 and sometimes 50,000 deaths involving cars per year....so lets hear some more or your faux outrage....

Could it be the price we pay for freedom ?

This is the price Americans as a group have agreed is worth the value of unfettered absolute access to firearms.

Bullshit. The MOST basic tenet of the 2A is a gun in the home, period. To KEEP and bear arms.

So this was not 'unfettered, absolute access.' It was owning and keeping a gun.....and the idiot didnt secure it around small children.

Parents have to do many things to protect their kids in the home, even against deadly things, so it's not just about guns. These parent f*d up.

No desh, we are talking about people being irresponsible with the use of items that can lead to the death of children. You want to pretend that there is some way to create laws that would stop people from being irresponsible.

Its funny one white kid gets killed and you all demand action, meanwhile Chicago had 3 deaths and 12 shootings over the weekend and not one peep from any of you. Oh wait, the victims are all black, never mind.

Those deaths could never have happened. They have so many gun laws in Chicago it is nearly illegal to own one, so those stories cannot be true.

Thank you, Nova. Maybe we need to ban cars? Or maybe limit them to no more than 10hp, 15mph, and 75lbs total weight with big balloon bumpers all around? No, because that would be stupid. The left never thinks beyond the initial emotion before blabbing.

There are many countries with a fraction of the guns and a fraction of the murders.
Lobbyist NRA feed the Mullette heads

As a matter of fact, if you remove "gun murders" that were committed in the 5 most gun-controlled cities in the U.S., you find the remaining U.S. murder rate compares favorably with even the UK's manipulated murder statistics.

Then admit that the gun did not just pop up out of drawer or something and shoot the kid....
nor did the bathtub track down the other one and hold him under water
nor do cars sneak out of garages at night and run into others for fun.

Pinheads would rather give up their rights and freedoms than accept the fact that accidents happen and irresponsible fools cause problems no
matter what the laws say.

Plenty, and you are without imagination if you cant some up with some yourself. Compare cars to guns, you cant buy a car (a necessity to live in most parts of America) without all kinds of safety features designed to protect children. We could require more intricate safety locks on guns, we could require fingerprint technology before a safety is released, we could require technology that bullets that have been in a chamber for more than two min's are deactivated. We could make the triggers more difficult to pull, so they require more strength and a 3 year old typically has.

These are just a few that I came up with on my own in a matter of a few seconds.

Those things (most) exist. People can choose them if they want. Cars dont really have a lot of MANDATORY features to protect kids. THere are laws ther force parents to buy special seats.

The one about chambered bullets being deactivated after 2 minutes is just assinine..but new! I'mma take that to my gun forum and see if they've heard of that. I guess cops would be exempt? Their ammo would be illegal for us stupid citizens? The ones who's lives ALSO may depend on those desperate seconds?
