Abortion rights in Israel

Andy Borowitz nails it.

"American conservatives love, love, love Israel. They also hate, hate, hate abortion and socialized medicine. American conservatives face one hell of a moral conundrum in the new year...

This will be a tough cookie for the mostly evangelical philo-Semites of the American Right. Consider Sarah Palin—who, admittedly, is an idiot, but still gets straight-faced praise in some conservative circles. She's a Pentecostal who's sworn to combat "the atrocity of abortion" and decried Obamacare as "the biggest advance of the abortion industry in America." She's also visited the Holy Land, made a cottage industry of "defending our friends in Israel," and told Israelis to stop "apologizing all the time" for doing their thang.

There's no been no comment yet from Palin and her fellow antichoice Zionists on Eretz Yisrael's abortions for its chosen people. Of course, it's possible the conservatives' brains just exploded."

Israel to fund all abortions for women 20-33 starting next year

"Israel will pay for abortions for women aged 20 to 33 regardless of circumstance starting next year, health officials said Monday, adding that they hope to make eligibilty for state funding universal in the future.

Until now, subsidized abortions for women of all ages were available in medical emergencies or in case of rape and sexual abuse. Women under the age of 20 or over 40 were also eligible for abortion funding even when the reason was personal.

Despite the new funding, which was recently approved as part of Israel’s state-subsidized “health basket” for 2014, women will still have to appear before a state committee before terminating a pregnancy."

Jews don't even believe in hell(at least the Christian version, as I found when I googled the question "do Jews believe in hell?"), they actually have a very pragmatic approach to it that further explains some things that the Pope has said recently. Also explains why most American Jews vote democrat.

In short, they get a pass on everything because they think EVERYBODY is going to hell, but not the Christian version.

:rofl2:

If its between the jews and muslims, we will hold our nose's and go with the jews.
Why choose? America is a free country. I live in Columbus Ohio, we have a very large Muslim population as we have a very large Somalian population. We also have a very large Jewish population. Everyone pretty much gets along. US foreign policy should be fair to both Israel and Muslim nations.

So you agree that the OP is pure bullshit then.

No, their stance on abortion and uselessness as an ally are unrelated. France, Germany, Japan, England, Australia, Canada, all are pro choice and useful as allies. Israel is in many ways using us for military technology and as a financial sugar tit to survive.

I think his point had more to do with the hypocrisy of the religious right than anything else...
Since the two issues are completely unrelated, there is no hypocrisy.

An example of what you want to occur would be a devout Catholic disowning his child because she was gay. You'd cry 'hypocrisy' if he didn't, and cry 'intolerance' if he did.
