Less Republicans believe in Evolution today than in 2009

only if you can disprove the Big Bang.......

not nearly so much as arguing that fossils prove there was no creation....both Prof Baxter and Mott have used that argument here.....

One does not have to disprove the Big Bang to "believe" it did not happen, one would simply have to "believe" it did not happen.

Your description of this, is one that I wish I would have been able to put into words.
I also believe that WE (our current form of human beings) may not be the "FINAL" design.

Something you and I agree on, it would be very arrogant to assume that we were the FINAL design. Especially when you consider that we are still changing.

People who are anti rationalism ate often unwilling tondealnwith the truth when it conflicts with their ideology. Creationists and global warming deniers fit into the category of anti rationalists. You cannot make people want the truth when they are determined to remain willfully ignorant.

There are no global warming deniers; everyone with a brain knows the planet has warmed since the retreat of the last glaciers. What we do not believe is the whacko science suggesting that "man" can change the earths climate.

I wish the dunces on the left could get at least that much right. But alas, they fancy themselves as the most intelligent caring beings on earth, why bother with facts, the truth or reality?

Nope. That's not Intelligent Design. Again, you are confusing it with theistic evolution. Intelligent Design is the idea that the complexity and diversity of life cannot be explained by evolution alone and can only be explained through reference to an intelligent designer. Some ID proponents leave room for evolution guided only by natural selection but still hold onto the notion that it is insufficient to explain certain complex traits/features.

Such a cop-out if true. We cant understand the complexity of the design so we must invent a mystical "God" to explain it, why not just say, we don't understand this part?

It is sloppy thinking even for theists. the god of the gap thing has been going away for centuries. We used to think thunder and diseases were caused by gods and demons. We now know better. I am surprised anyone would say something so mind numbingly astonishingly stupid as..."we don't understand DNA, therefore god did it."

You have to wonder how much of denial of science on the right is done just because these people are clueless as to how science actually works.

I never suggested that, liar. You suggested that no one believes what Ham and his many supporters believe by claiming that it was just a "liberally distorted tradition."

The right engages in ad holmium attacks every time their cherished notions are questioned. One wonders why they chose to try to fight intellectual fights that have already been lost.....Don Quixote and a windmill anyone?

Its incredibly arrogant to think that we are so smart that if we cant understand it, it must be built by magic.

This is the core of why they are so hostile to compulsory universal education. The better educated the populace is, the easier it is to trick them into believing the magic shit.

I came to see, several years ago, that participation in this board is akin to fighting windmills.

Yet it is the most uneducated and the poorest in this nation that are the base of the Democratic party.

As has been stated many times on the board before, both right AND left ignore science when it goes against their ideological beliefs.

Many on the left do not believe an abortion ends a human life.

Many on the left believe by shouting consensus over and over again that somehow makes man responsible for the majority of climate change.

I disagree. The South is the most Conservative portion of our nation, and they are also the least educated people of our nation. I know you can play with statistics and manipulate results to say whatever you choose. I lived in Alabama for four years and I can tell the most uneducated are the most Conservative.

Particularly the Social Conservative that wants to fight to keep evolution from being taught in our schools.

Again GARUD... look to the inner cities where education is typically in shambles... the inner cities vote overwhelmingly for Democrats. Regardless of states they live in.
