Let's be clear...all this fancy language about our "rights" coming from "God" is pure hokum.

Our rights came from a group of wealthy land owners.

GOD spoke to NO ONE about your right to own a weapon to take the lives of his other children.

This whole "God given rights" bullshit is just that.

Excellent question, I had to stop and think about it now that you brought it up. I think biannual is twice a year (semi-annual) and biennial is every other year.

And let me be clear hear Zap, I have no desire to get shot by someone with a gun and I have a niece that's six and twin niece and nephew that are three. When that shooting in Connecticut occurred my stomach dropped because I pictured it being one (or more) of them. I can only imagine how bad it is for the parents.

So I have no desire for those with mental health issues to own guns. So I'm open to rules that would prevent that. At the same time I'm a firm believer in the right for individuals to own guns. So it's not like I'm a law maker making these decisions but to me having people taking a written test or a firing test doesn't do a whole lot. To me that's just setting up a huge new DMW like government bureaucracy without real benefit. But because I don't support that idea doesn't mean I don't support any legislation or am closed minded on the subject.

See that's the thing. I suggest some sort of written/firing test without even getting into specifics and already your red flags are going off.

We haven't even discussed what "sort" of written/firing test might be administered and you've already dismissed it because it doesn't "do a whole lot".

But you see, you've already made it clear that you are already against any sort of regulation that does "do whole a lot".

So I am done coming up with what I feel are reasonable suggestions only to be told everything I might suggest is going too far...you tell me...what is your grand plan for keeping your nieces safe, short of arming every single person in the country?
