Dunn trial begins in Florida

If I were a black man in Florida this evening, I'd be playin' my car stereo EXTRA loud as I drove around town.

Why? The bastard walked on the charge of murder? He is not going to jail for life or anything like life. If I remember correctly, this is his first offense and he has been mostly a good, if racist, citizen so he'll get leniency like all white people do. Had he been a black man who shot a white man he would be getting life, but white privilege will save this bastard's ass from any real time. His sentencing will probably be at least as much of an outrage as the verdict was.

When you take a gun out of your car and start shooting at people, that is prime facie evidence of premeditation. It doesn't have to be an hour or pre-planned all it has to be is premeditated. Guns are made to kill, that is their purpose. When you use one, it should be assumed that you are trying to kill something. There is no other reason to start shooting up a car unless you are trying to kill someone in it. And the only people who can't understand that are white people on a jury for a white male in Florida where intent is blurred by the whiteness of the defendant.

This bastard will probably be out on appeal of the verdict in less than a month.

I dont think so, I think he will be retried with other than murder 1 and get convicted. No matter how emotional this case is relatively soon after the zimmerman case, to me there is no indication of 1st degree murder. Murder, YES, just not in the first degree.

This is from the Nation magazine and shows just how fucked up things are in Florida. There was absolutely no suggestion that these kids were "thugs" which in this context must simply be legalistic racist lawyer code for Black.

I don’t really listen to music loud, but I look around. I watch my back while I’m walking down the streets.'

This is what black people do now that they state of Florida has declared them vulnerable! Only white people who can't imagine what it means to have a target on your back think this verdict makes Black teenagers safe in Florida! Black teenagers and their parents certainly don't think so! This law still makes it legal to shoot to kill if you believe your life has been threatened. Even if you just make the story up! It don't matter!

yeah but that's moot as the attempted murder charges carry a 20 sentence minimum and they are going to be run consecutively.

However since a gun was involved the Judge can give him life. Regardless at his age even 25 years is for all intents and purposes a life sentence.

I dunno.....that's debatable...there is some valid argument for premeditation though I tend to agree with you that 2nd Degree murder is a better fit.
