Ex-Congressman Melvin Jay Reynolds (D) arrested in Zimbabwe for porn:

I'm saying that racist statements are wrong no matter who makes them or what the content is.
So you don't see any shades of grey with regards to the two remarks? To me what that county official said was indeed off-color, but his remark was obviously in jest and more a slam on the opposition party, not so much on the minorities that he mentioned.

You don't see a difference of the relative influence between a county official and the president of the united states? Keep in mind that the POTUS is the head of his own political party while he is office.

You don't see the difference between and off color joke and a statement of a cynical party policy?

Funny how that works.

[h=1]Reynolds says he's in South Africa, was 'brutalized' in Zimbabwe[/h]
Mel Reynolds, the disgraced former congressman from Chicago who was deported from Zimbabwe last month, said today he is in South Africa recovering from a foot injury he suffered while “brutalized” in detention in Zimbabwe.

Reynolds, 62, who spoke in a telephone interview, said he planned to return to Chicago in seven to 10 days and talk more about his case.

He was arrested Feb. 17 in Zimbabwe on separate charges of possessing pornography and overstaying his visa. The porn count was dropped, but he pleaded guilty to staying in the country on an expired visa and was deported Feb. 23.

Reynolds told the Tribune about being “brutalized” while in detention in Zimbabwe: He said he was put into a latrine and his foot was cut, resulting in a severe infection.

He said only after arriving in South Africa was he able to receive medical treatment. “I was given super antibiotics for two days intravenously,” he said.

An official in Zimbabwe’s Embassy in Washington said “I haven’t heard anything” from his home country about Reynolds’ account of mistreatment. The official, who spoke on condition that he not be identified by name, said if someone in detention is “really in need of medical care,” the inmate would be taken to a medical facility.

:rofl2:

Brutalized in Zimbabwe, does that mean they don't like child molesters and decided to meet out a little justice?
