Ted Cruz

I'm curious what other Republicans (or right-leaning folk) think of Cruz. (I won't be offended if you think differently of him than me)

Right now I'm not a big fan. In theory I appreciate his 'stand on principle and state your position on the debt ceiling' but in reality it is a move he is doing to bolster his personal stature while trying to hurt the Republican Party. If current polls are to be believed Republicans have a chance to win the Senate this November. Cruz is doing his best to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory imo. Republicans will be able to do a hell of a lot more in Congress controlling the House and Senate as opposed to just the House yet Cruz is trying to go scorched Earth right now.

I notice some leading Republican pundits have started turning against his recent behavior as well. What do those on the right here think?

It depends on which side of the fence you're on. Are you a Republican that's really just a soft core democrat, or are you trying to push the lines back to conservative values? I think Cruz is fantastic compared to the "other guys".

I guess I would put it back on you. What exactly do you think a GOP Senate is going to do?

I seem to recall many republicans running in repealing Obamacare. Other than some token votes that Boner knew wouldn't go anywhere what has been done?

Cruz launched the only serious assault on dismantling it and those who claim to agree with the end result lambaste him for actually attempting it. I don't buy the "we just disagree on tactics" line because I haven't seen a reasonable alternative.

All I hear is "we want to just take back the Senate".

Well, to do what exactly. It seems to me all the present day GOP wants to do is run out the clock. Well you can't win with nothing.

So I ask you, what do you want the GOP to do if they get the senate back knowing Obama had the veto pen.

You seem like a nice guy and seem to have rightward leanings, but you seem to be more concerned with not offending than getting anything done. The left doesn't seem to mind scorched earth to attain their goals so why shouldn't the right.

Seems like most are content to just talk about wanting to be conservative but when push comes to shove and when someone shows up on the scene who actually wants to pursue conservative principles "conservatives" like you accuse them of being too brash.

Maybe you can tell us the kind of republican that really gets your motor rolling instead of who you don't like?

Who do you think is the best representative? Give an example of who you would like to see as a standard-bearer.

Fair enough. I look at it a couple of ways. The Republicans should not have been so far out of power that Obamacare was able to pass. We all know it is far harder to repeal something than to prevent it from passing in the first place. We all know Obama isn't going to sign a law repealing it and without control of the Senate a bill isn't going to pass Congress anyway.

What do I want to see? If a Democrat is President I want to see a Republican led Congress like we had during the '90's that passed a more conservative agenda and showed a modicum of fiscal responsibility. I want to see Republicans leading on ideas and not have the only they do be preventing democrats from passing ther ideas. To lead on ideas and get them passed you need to have power.

I'm on my phone. Can write more at home but that's where I'm coming from. And to me it's not about not offending. If that was the case I wouldn't be a republican living in San Francisco. It would be much easier for to be a democrat and not get the shit that I do.

As Don points out a gop senate is not likely to be worlds different that what we have now. That being said it would be a step in a better direction.
Until somebody demonstrates that they will stand up to tthe constitutional crisis of Obamas making, i want all of dc replaced. The government is a disgrace. All of it.

Luckily the majority of America was alarmed by the extreme enough to wake up from their job/family and openly say, "this isn't right, out congress is acting stupid"

I couldn't figure him out at first. I sadly told my wife I liked him at one point. I like less Government yet he never explained what he wanted less of specifically, like most. Later I heard him say that he watches Fox news, Glen Beck and Sean Hannity when he gets off work. Even later I saw him openly lead the shutdown of the Government and heard the small brain followers state "No big deal, just less tyranny".

Today it has been opened up that Ted Cruz is just another puppet paid off by the Koch Brothers...........................................................................

Depends on what you mean by "representative"...

Who best represents the Constitution, who best represents the people, who best represents America (etc). Ted Cruz, by no mistake, is clearly the best representative of "Fox News politics".

The answer is not less government, it's more.

What's irresponsible is agreeing to spend money you don't have. Especially on shit that you know won't work.

Well then Cruz should have attempted reigning in spending while the current budget was being discussed.

What's that?

Not enough Congressmen and Senators agreed with him?

Sounds like his problem then, huh?

America's problem, actually. But don't let that keep you from shilling for the DNC. ;)

What a perfect thread for the times.
Cawacko thinks Cruz is a wacko but isnt sure.
Mint Julip isnt going to commit one way or the other, like the rest of the flock she needs to be told what to think.
Granoob actually likes the moronic turd, quite possibly the stupidest senator ever elected.
ILA wishs for more discord, not less.

No wonder the GOP is on history's trash heap
with no hope.

Let me help you out a bit Cawacko; Cruz is poison to your party; the GOP has less chance of taking the senate than Romney had,
but the entire party is so fucking delusional that you think you are somehow still relevant.
You are not.

Angry old white men, bigots, racists, and morons dont matter anymore.

(In case you were wondering Cawacko, you fall under the moron catagory.
This thread proves that.

I don't know that there is a best representative right now. Look at the group of candidates that ran during the last two Presidential elections, not all that impressive.

If the Republicans are going to be honest about who they truly are with the Americans people, I think Cruz is a great leader.
