God's Work

That's not true - Abbas specifically denied it, and said Bush didn't say it.

Regardless, it's hearsay. It's not a "Bush said."

What about this? I'm not denying there's no film of that meeting but why should anyone believe the bush admin. over the Pal leaders?

"The Palestinian leader, Mahmoud Abbas, who attended the June 2003 meeting as well, also appears on the documentary series to recount how Mr Bush told him: "I have a moral and religious obligation. So I will get you a Palestinian state."

I just think that the right gets worked up over any Democrat invoking their belief in God. They think they own God along with patriotism.

Dear shit-for-brains; Republicans aren't worked up over Democrats invoking their belief in God. They are pointing out the glaring hypocrisy leftists like you wallow in.

But alas, I am talking to a dishonest moron; why would you comprehend anything beyond the massive amounts of leftist Kool-Aid you swill and the leftist propaganda you parrot like a circus monkey.

It's a far cry from "God told me to go to war."

That's absolutely true, they consider God and patriotism the same thing in many ways. They find it shocking when a liberal professes belief in God, because to them God and conservatism are the same thing. That's the thing I find offensive and wish all political figures would simply avoid using the concept of God to further any such agenda. It inevitably will alienate someone and it leads to the idea that their political ideology owns the blessing of God.

Do you not realize that I am the only one here criticizing President Obama in this incident?

Most unfortunate, he is forgetting the seperation of church and state. All politicians use it for that feel good moment, but it isn't necessary.

You are helping your fellow Americans would have worked as well.

Another clueless dunce who doesn't know what the Constitution says. It's not about a separation of church and state you boring leftist dunces; it says they cannot make any law ESTABLISHING a religion. It says NOTHING about a SEPARATION you morons.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Seriously; Liberals are too stupid for coherent debate. This is why we should just point and laugh at you morons.

I agree...must be a slow new cycle day. A man can't even thank some one for doing good works with out getting criticised.

I guess you missed the part of the speech where Obama denigrated those who disagree with his moronic agenda.

Of course you did; you're a brain washed leftist dunce.

It's a far cry from "God told me to go to war."

That part of the quote, yes, but this is the part that preceded it.

MINUTES acquired by Haaretz from . . . cease-fire negotiations between Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and faction leaders from the Hamas, Islamic Jihad and the Popular and Democratic Fronts reveal some of the factors at play behind the scenes in the effort to achieve a hudna [truce] . . . Abbas said that at Aqaba, [George W.] Bush promised to speak with [Ariel] Sharon about the siege on [Yasser] Arafat. He said nobody can speak to or pressure Sharon except the Americans. According to Abbas, immediately thereafter Bush said: "God told me to strike at al-Qa'ida and I struck them, and then he instructed me to strike at Saddam, which I did, and now I am determined to solve the problem in the Middle East. If you help me I will act, and if not, the elections will come and I will have to focus on them."

Do you ever tire of spreading right wing horseshit? You should open a landscaping business, they spread a of manure too.

Do you ever tire of spreading your left wing horseshit? You don't need a mere a landscaping business to spread the amount of manure you erupt with on this forum; you need to be their supplier.

Damn, look how easy it is to be a brain dead leftist dunce!

They are going to obfuscate all day before they will admit to this. what's funny is that I think many conservatives are secretly happy to hear Bush believed this, because they believe God is on the republican's side.

Who is obfuscating? You're using a quote that didn't even come from Bush's mouth, about which there is some pretty significant disagreement about what was said, from people who don't speak English as a 1st language.

And that, somehow, is enough to write "Bush said this."

I never had a problem with Bush's public statements on religion. They were often pretty humerous at his press conferences, though I'm sure that wasn't intended.

I am sure Godless leftists find any invocation of God humorous; except when it is their politicians invoking it. Then it is okay.

I did have a problem when he made references to God in his Iraq policy that distincly smaked of meglomania.

Megalomania? Please show how his references were megalomania dunce.

I also criticized him for attempting to blurr the seperation cluase when he wanted to give official government sanction and resources to religious charitable and relief organizations. As for his personal public statements, never had a problem with those.

There is no "separation" clause you pathetic dunce; please find it.

I don't know why, bush was known for making that kind of comment. He also believed God wanted him to run for president.

"Bush said to James Robison: 'I feel like God wants me to run for President. I can't explain it, but I sense my country is going to need me. Something is going to happen... I know it won't be easy on me or my family, but God wants me to do it.' "

But how do you know it didn't come from bush's mouth? I'm not trying to be snarky. The Pals in the meeting all say he made the comment. Do you think they made it up to cast him in a bad light?
