so i guess rummy stated that a trained ape could manage our foreign policy better than the current administration....is that a racist cut or an insult to trained apes....
 
I don't know what was in Rummy's mind. It could have been either, but due to public perception it was a poor choice of words.

I think it debases the office of the president to use those words to criticize the occupant of the White House. Rummy is educated enough to have chosen a more substantial way to criticize the foreign policy of the Administration.
 
Is it even possible to further the office ? As dogs have no opposable thumbs and some signing of documents is needed kinda had to be a primate.
 
I read the whole thing in context. It's obvious that Rummy had spent a lot of personal effort to develop Karzai into a leader that would be pro-US, and The Obama has destroyed all that effort by neglect and stupidity. So Rummy's a bit frustrated and it shows. But I don't see any racism there.
 
Rummy is a bitter man whose failures as a leader extend all the way back to Vietnam. He wont honestly evaluate himself so his ego leads him to make these statements to prop up the false idea in his mind that he was an effective leader. He cant accept that he ever made a mistake and was ever anything but flawless. The man blames all of his failures on others.
 
That's just your biased opinion. Rummy was instrumental in getting a democratically elected government in Afghanistan, and one that was friendly to US interests. Now The Obama has destroyed that, so you attack Rummy to defend The Obama.

i rather think that we respect the office for what it stands for....the person holding the office is naturally granted a certain respect upon entry and keeps that respect by earning it... how does the president earn/keep respect....maybe by he or she themselves respecting the office, the oath of office and performing their duties in accordance with the constitution....has this president done that by any stretch of the imagination.....has there ever been an individual/administration so brazenly corrupt, pathologically given to lying and clownishly incompetent as this cabal....serious question....

What Rumsfeld actually said, in context.....

Rumsfeld pointed to the fact that the Obama administration has failed to get Karzai to sign an agreement that would allow some U.S. troops to remain in Afghanistan after 2014, when combat ends.


The U.S. has status of forces agreements with more than a hundred countries, Rumsfeld noted. “A trained ape can get a status of forces agreement,” he said. “It does not take a genius. And we have so mismanaged that relationship.”

Its funny you pinheads didn't spin it to mean that he was talking about Bush getting a 'a status of forces agreement'.....but I guess playing the race card is more your style....

Good point Bravo. Rummy was really saying that Bush had done no better than a trained ape.

Rummy is a war criminal under indictment in Germany who can never leave this country again for the rest of his life. Who gives a fuck what he says?

Hey... remember Rummy lied his ass off and said that not only was it an absolute certainty that Saddam had WMD stockpiles.... HE EVEN KNEW RIGHT WHERE THEY WERE.

He should be stood up against a wall and shot along with Dubya and Cheney.
