The Black Problem

What do you mean by "reach out"?

Go to the black community and speak to black voters. Jack Kemp, for example, was excellent at this. Rand Paul has done this. Go to groups like the Urban League. Go to places like Howard University like Paul did. Speak directly to black voters about why Republican policies would be beneficial.

What specifically would be said?

If you're asking the question I'm guessing you wouldn't be one the party would pick to do the speaking?

Apparently you wouldn't be since you can't give one specific example of what should be said. I know what I would say and the first response would be "racist" despite nothing racial being said.

Rand Paul spoke at Howard about the need for criminal justice reform and school choice. Jack Kemp was big on setting up enterprise zones in economically depressed urban areas.

Do you not think the Republican Party should target black voters?

Criminal justice reform? Meaning? I fully support school choice. It isn't blacks that oppose it, it's the Democrat party. I doubt very many blacks vote Democrat because of the issue of school choice.

I think they should target voters not voters of a specific (fill in the blank) group. You don't change your fundamental beliefs. That's called pandering.

This isn't pandering. It's telling your (the party's) story. It's explaining why conservative policies would be beneficial to the black community. The party has to make an effort to reach these voters (if the goal is to get their votes).

It is when you (the party) is willing to compromise fundamental beliefs in order to get votes. Too many believe it should be tell me what you want and I'll do it that way instead of here's what we believe, join us if you agree.

yup. what did you think?

Most people never get past the title and assume its racist lol.

Please note that that there are at least four posters you should threadban, Leonthecat, Evince, Chopped Liver and Legion Troll. Trust me you'll never regret it. That opening post is very well written and I fear that it is far too highbrow for some of the knuckle draggers on here

At this point the party (nationally) is getting almost no black voters and is losing Hispanic voters. Considering we (the Republican Party) have lost five of the last six popular Presidential election votes we need to start making some changes. And considering the fact that a person (Trump) who holds very few conservative principles currently leads for the party's nomination we as voters are definitely willing to compromise on fundamental beliefs.

Why on earth would a black man, in America, talk to the republicans? There is nothing to talk about.

Right! Blacks can talk with Democrats all day every day about assuring blacks remain "separatist," "anti-republican," "pro-captive," "good negro's," loyal to, and remaining on their Democrat Masa's BIG government plantation that feeds and houses them with other people's money. They'll even give them Obama-phones.

then maybe the greens or libertarians?

I understand about the republicans though. The democrats are sure of AA loyalty so they will throw them under the bus. The repubs are sure they can never get AA loyalty so they will throw them under the bus.

Hopefully the AA community can get a party more responsive to them.

How about an African American Party? They strive for separation in so many ways. They have the Congressional Black Caucus, the NAACP, and the United Negro College Fund, why not the United Negro Political Party? Can't we just imagine the "RACIST" cries if white people had such institutions?

Obama-phones?

You don't know that the program you're referring to was inaugurated under Reagan? :palm:

Poor Bobo.

It's also a perfect example of how government programs never die, they spread like a virus. From a simple POTS line to super smart phone access and now an attempt to ensure everybody gets interwebs access.
