I do not think you can use left/right wing in terms of religion. Even "fundamentalism" is criticized ( although the parallels work for me)..

Islam is an authoritarian religion. it's based on submission to the will of Allah -and jihad for those who are apostates.
Because the Quran has texts that call for it.
So to say "left wing/right wing" misses the point that those who wish to use a more stringent reading (Salafists)
want to return to a time closer to the Prophet , when western influence wasn't decaying Islamic states.
