In America I think that is true, but that does not mean they have it good. It does not mean that they are still not treated poorly.

I agree they should think bigger, we all should, it still does not change the fact that while they are better off now than ever before in America, they still are not in the best shape they can be in.
I also agree that they would be better off, all of us would be, if both parties competed for support.
I don't see how a man who thinks they are in the worst shape they have ever been can help us to make it better. If he cant acknowledge the gains thus far, he cant see clearly enough to help.

You are correct, they have given almost full support to Democrats for 50 plus years.

Before that, after they were finally granted the vote, they were loyal to the Republicans who they credited with giving them freedom, while racist Democrats oppressed them with Jim Crow laws. That finally began changing around 1936 during Roosevelt's administration.
Since 1964 the GOP has been the party most often associated with bigotry.
