Great line from Michael Moore. Dude is a genius.

Trump is 100% fraud. Casting a vote for him just to spit at the system is reckless & irrational. And it could end up hurting a LOT of people, for a long time.

I guess that's the black & white of it, but it wasn't how I interpreted it.

Brexit was an anger vote - a lash out. Whether it turns out to be the smart move remains to be seen. But they interviewed people who voted in favor of leaving the following day, and some were practically sobbing, saying that they never thought it would actually pass.

I don't think people consider consequences in those kinds of scenarios. The vote is a powerful tool that we all have; it's not something to be taken so lightly, or used so recklessly.

I know otherwise intelligent people who are Trump supporters. Good friends of mine. I don't care if it sounds superior - they're not stupid, but they are gullible to believe a lot of what he's saying. He's a proven con man - classic snake oil guy.

You Americans truly know shit about the world, if you think that Brexit just happened overnight then you are truly ignorant. I have always thought that to be able to argue convincingly then you need to understand the other point of view, however I doubt if you could list the main reasons for Brexit.

Short term or long term? There was a non stop campaign by the Remainers telling people how terrible life would be, yet none of that has come to pass apart from a falling exchange rate which has proved a shot in the arm for our exports. Many were also aware of just how bad the EU finances have become, the Euro zone is truly fucked.

I would say that most realised that leaving involved some risk but staying was even worse, we want control of our own destiny not dictated to by a bunch of arrogant Eurocrats in Brussels.

We probably would have stayed if they hadn't been so intransigent over freedom of movement. We were basically told that there was no compromise on immigration if we wanted to stay in the Single Market. Of course they thought we were bluffing, they know better now. We are the second biggest contributor to the EU budget and now other countries are waking up to the realisation that they will have to cough up more to plug the hole.
