Should an act of expression be a crime?

Well T1,

S/He may be right. But I have no idea what the question is.

If it's a valid point, I'd like the details. But at this point, I couldn't guess. Could you?

"Complain"? Did you mean "comment", or "critique"?

I ask yet again for specifics; by exact quotation if you please.

Your vague insinuations don't provide enough substance to address constructively.

actually I was thinking more "whine" and "cry"......

" I was thinking more "whine" and "cry"...... " #243
Ah! Excellent.
Then you need:
a) a dictionary *, &

b) perhaps in addition, supplementary study in the rules of grammar.

Thanks for the clarification.

* For the English language in purity, I recommend the OED. But as this seems to be an Ameri-centric thread (site), I personally prefer The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, Third Edition © 1996 by Houghton Mifflin Company. Electronic version licensed from INSO Corporation; further reproduction and distribution in accordance with the Copyright Law of the United States. All rights reserved.

It's excellent.

I would never ever burn our flag and its sad when people do that since so many people died for our flag, but I don't think that it should be a crime or that you should lose citizenship by burning it as a protest. I think the people that burn it would think twice if they knew a veteran that fought for it.

fyi i would like to point out again flag burning was only a 5-4 decision and one of the 5 , scalia, is about to be replaced.

While the tweet was a brilliant political move for reasons which had nothing to do with flag burning but more to do with burning down the MSM, if you want to discuss flag burning itself we should at least know how close it was.

Do any Trump supporters feel uncomfortable with Trump suggesting that people lose Citizenship or be put in jail for political dissent?

do leftists feel comfortable with gun carriers being put in jail for exercising 2nd Amendment rights in states that deny this right?

btw MSM knows whats going on they just cant stop it. This is from an article from Washington Post calling for the president elect to be banned from twitter.

"The media already looks — and, frankly, kind of is — out of touch with the so-called common man. And while there’s little recent polling on the subject, I’d be surprised if the media isn’t seriously out of step with the public on the subject: It’s a classic wedge issue that produces divisive results among voters but near-unanimity among journalists (including myself). It’s probably best for everyone if the media isn’t tempted into demonstrating its remove from the values of the general public every time the president-elect trolls it."

this is in reference to the flag burning. A lot of people like morning joe immideatly realized it had nothing to do with flag burning.

How about a renter that refuses to rent to a black man because he don't like his 'attitude' and had nothing to do his race.....would that be racial discrimination ?

You pinheads like to spin and wiggle like worms....

The only way flag burning would not incite what could be a violent reaction is to burn it your back yard when no can see you.....and that just don't happen....

the whole purpose of flag burning is to provoke a reaction...you guys would say its ok if the burner just wanted to get warm....

In any case, Trump can have any opinion he wants to have, the SC has spoken and the matter is moot.....he can't change a thing.

the thread is just nonsense.

That's a poor analogy. You're trying to compare a civil right with symbolic speech.

People like me have to put up with dopes waving swastikas and Confederate flags because they think that's okay to do in the trump era. So get over your flag-burning angst.

I do :) he is very entertaining. Its fun to watch him do random things that look random that connect at the end.

Its like watching oceans 11

for instance the whole day the press has been bashing him as against first ammendment and dictatorial. Then at the end of the day they have to report he just saved jobs in Indiana. lololololololololol

What was the quid pro quo in Pence's state?

not at all......but why do you ignore Trump's freedom of expression.......you have a right to burn a flag.......he has a right to think you ought not be a citizen because of it......what you do is protected, what he did is protected........I'm uncomfortable with assholes who don't realize that.....

What he proposed is prohibited by the highest law of the land.

I'm comparing the support Castro gets from Americans to the act you are complaining about. You need to be a little more progressive.

So because some leftist dumbass likes Castro that means no one can speak out against violations of the first amendment? What kind of idiot logic is that?

Knee jerk reactions are a serious threat to liberty.

"This will be our next 4 years. We will wake up every morning, check Twitter, and see what irrelevant topic our President has assigned us to talk about today.

Now, for the rest of today, we will have a bunch of liberal pundits go on TV and tell us why it's "patriotic" to burn the American flag, and lose even more support from disgusted Americans."

lol.

Uh huh, sure. Donald did not want us to talk about his Carrier deal (crony capitalism). He wanted us to talk about this instead.

You are stupid.
