Confirmed: Police Told to Stand Down in Charlottesville—Did Nothing as War Broke Out

The ACLU confirmed late Saturday that police were given stand-down orders in Charlottesville. This invited violence and only fueled the chaos.

Charlottesville, VA — The events that unfolded in Charlottesville, Virginia this Saturday were tragic, hateful, insidious and even deadly. Saturday will go down in history as the day America’s hate reared its ugly face and proved to the world that this country is being divided — to be conquered. Adding fuel to the fire of hatred and violence were politicians who told police not to intervene and allowed the unchecked carnage to unfold before their eyes.

The stand down was confirmed by the ACLU who quoted a police source saying, “We’ll not intervene until given command to do so.”

This command never came.

There is no shortage of violent footage of clashes between neo-nazi white supremacists and counter protesters from Antifa and the like. Multiple violent battles raged on for several minutes as blood spilled onto the streets of this college town. Only several feet away were police officers — who did nothing to stop it.

Several members of the militia — armed with AR-15s and who appeared to be neutral in the fight — were recorded on multiple occasions attempting to keep the peace by breaking up fights and tending to the wounded. Their actions proved far more effective than the inaction of the police.

The only thing police seemed to be instructed to do was to break up the lawful assembly which only seemed to add fuel to the violent fire that was stoked throughout the day.

According to ProPublica, Charlottesville Vice Mayor Wes Bellamy defended the police tactics, noting “I’m not in the business of throwing our police department under the bus, because they’re doing the best job they can, “ said Bellamy. “I don’t think the police officers were just twiddling their thumbs.”

While policing violent crowds, like the ones in Charlottesville on Saturday, is no easy job, we’ve seen police across the country move in and act in situations far less chaotic.

Whatever the reason police were told to stand down, the result of their inaction was the same. Whether deliberate or not, Saturday’s police response served to fuel the already exponentially growing divide.

If ever there were time to call for peace in this country — it is now. The rapid growth of Antifa and white supremacists illustrates the polarizing effects that ‘divide and conquer’ tactics being pushed by the state and media are having.

We must realize that as long as the citizens keep fighting amongst each other, the behemoth state will continue to usurp our freedoms, rob us, divide us and control us to the point of complete despotism or civil war.

McCauliffe, and by extension the liberal wing of our politics have no right to comment on this event one way or the other.
they should shut up on this one, their despicable spin on everything racial is nothing but that, SPIN

This is blood on McAuliffe hands.

The blood is not on McAuliffe's hands any more than it is on Republican hands. The blood is on the hands of the asshole who decided to drive his car through a group of protestors.

I do believe that Brian Moran, the state official in charge of the police response, should be fired immediately, however.

From the NYT article:

"Brian Moran, Virginia’s secretary of public safety and homeland security, was watching the events from a command post on the sixth floor of a Wells Fargo bank on the downtown mall. There were sporadic fights. “I compare it to hockey,” he said. “Often in hockey there are sporadic fights, and then they separate.”

And then...

At 11:22 a.m. Mr. Moran called the governor and asked him to declare a state of emergency. Mr. McAuliffe did so. Asked why the police did not do more to control the brawling, Mr. Moran said, “It was a volatile situation and it’s unfortunate people resorted to violence.”

“But,” he said, “from our plan, to ensure the safety of our citizens and property, it went extremely well.”

He needs to lose his job.

Mayor is close with Clintons, who's close with Soros. Soros has been the big financer behind ANTIFA, BLM and even KKK (after all KKK was created by Democrats after the Abolitionist movement). He's been like a circus master for gladiator events. Just because Obama's gone and Clinton didn't win, this doesn't stop him. He's still going gung ho on instigating hate, violence, racism and division in our country.

McAuliffe insured that violence would happen by preventing the state police doing their job. He is directly responsible for that girls death.

Again, No he is not. He didn't get in the car and drive it through a group of protestors. The dipshit in jail is directly responsible and no amount of stupid, hyperbolic rhetoric by you changes that.

The driver of the car is directly responsible.

That said, AG Sessions needs to investigate this to see where the stand down order came from, and the appropriate charges should follow.

Or this will quickly get out of hand.

It was insane. I saw the beginning of the march. They were just walking along the street being their despicable selves. At the end of the street the protesters were all grouped up...just waiting for them. There was no reason for them to be allowed to be in such close proximity to them. The cops could have easily blocked off the area ahead of time and shown the protesters to an entirely different place for them to have their own demonstration maybe a few blocks or miles away.

The best possible outcome would have been if the militias had opened fire on the white nationalists, killing them all.

Virginia governor Terry McAuliffe defended the actions taken Saturday by state and local law enforcement in response to clashes between white nationalist protesters and counter-protesters in Charlottesville, VA.

McAuliffe told The New York Times in an impromptu street interview Sunday morning that police in Charlottesville did their best considering the circumstances.

“It’s easy to criticize, but I can tell you this, 80% of the people here had semiautomatic weapons," McAuliffe said.

“You saw the militia walking down the street, you would have thought they were an army ... I was just talking to the State Police upstairs; [the militia members] had better equipment than our State Police had,” McAuliffe said. “And yet not a shot was fired, zero property damage.”

so tell us again about that 'protect and serve' and that they 'put their lives on the line everyday to protect us'.............

ROFL, and you think the government would win some sort of rebellion anymore

RE YOU KIDDING ME,sure he knew, this was just what they wanted to happen,McAuliffe is a sorry excuse for a human.
So, you don't know, you are just guessing and still guessing.

Apparently, the police mistakenly thought that the group was going to assemble peacefully, that was a big mistake.
